Is there a Kozeesleep that fits the bill, Tim?0 -

Thanks Tim - yes even the rep, who got in touch after a refund had been agreed said it was probably the reflex foam, so at least the fault was admitted. Have you heard of such a failure before? It's a problem in a laminated product as the weakest component determines overall durabilty.0 -

Could it have been a rogue product as one online retailer has stated.
Can you clarify again about the turning of these particular mattresses Tim, is it exactly the same internally on both sides.
Has anyone bought their spring foam version and had any problems.0 -

It can happen with any foam or spring mattress if someone allways sleeps in the same position, in the same part of the mattress, and doesn'r even rotate it lengthways. Obviously it will help the mattress wear more evenly if it can also be turned over.0 -

It is possible, but not very likely with reflex foam. It is more common to get a rouge product with springs as there could be a weak spring. But with foam even if there is a defect in the mixing of the raw ingredients, then the foam surrounding it should help support the defect. Can you clarify again about the turning of these particular mattresses Tim, is it exactly the same internally on both sides.
This type of mattress is non turn. It is made up from a layer of reflex foam with a layer of memory foam on top. So it can't be turned over, but must be rotated lengthways.0 -
Have been reading with interest as looking to buy a new king size bed and mattress. Considering a leather bedstead with gas lift storage system and obviously having wooden slats am wondering exactly what kind of mattress would be suitable to go on this kind of base. Definitely want a turnable matress. Any advice welcome...thanks in advance...SazMARRIED MR E - 22nd Dec 2010 - technically now sazzye!:j

Depends on the gap between slats, but if only 1" or so pocket sprung would be best, any larger gap would potentially lead to the springs pushing through the gaps. You could always put cork board over large-gap slats and solve that problem easily. well we're wanting a decent mattress within reason, haven't set a budget as yet cos we're still trying to collate info and advice on best type of bed and mattress to go for. Was looking at pocket sprung with memory foam but put off by the heat- we both get hot in bed as it is so thinking mf may not be for us, plus dont know if it works with slats anyway. happy with a good quality pocket sprung. Want to be able to turn the matress over and lengthways to prolong its life. Thinking of a gas lift storage bedstead cos really need the extra storage and like the design, plus its the mattress that u sleep on after all isn't it??!!MARRIED MR E - 22nd Dec 2010 - technically now sazzye!:j

The type of bed you are after is called an ottoman bed. Most of these tend to come with sprung slats which tend to be a couple of inches apart. For a pocket sprung mattress you could lay a sheet of peg board on the slats, but this could cause the mattress to slide about when the base is open. So as you want a two sided mattress it leaves either open coil sprung, or a two sided pocket sprung/memory foam mattress. You don't need to worry about the heat as long as the memory foam is 2" deep. Deeper than this and it can start to engulf you. Also air can circulate in the spring layer to help remove the heat from the memory foam.0

I am considering a pocket spring topped and bottomed with 2 inches of memory foam. But the mattress is 11 inches thick - are fitted sheets that deep easily available? Our current mattess is only 7 inches deep and no way would our fitted sheets stretch over an 11 inch mattress!
Has anyone any experience of the La Romantica Venice? It is a medium pocket sprung, turnable with memory foam http://www.bedlum-beds.co.uk/product/La-ROMANTICA-Venice-(was-Eros)-Memory-Foam-and-Pocket-Sprung-King-Size-Mattress-479.00/
There are some great deals online but the trouble is you can't go and try the mattress out first.0
