Links were posted for all five Zone Alarm products that have been up issued to work with the Microsoft patch.

You only need to choose the product that you currently have installed and download the latest version.

I just hope I’ve enough cover as AVG only covers Antivirus – AVG 7.5 doesn’t cover Anti-spyware as noted on ZoneAlarm.

    Hi

I've just discovered this after several days without the internet - and a whole day on the phone to Vodafone technical support as I assumed (incorrectly as it turns out) that it was all the fault of my Vodafone dongle!!

It was only the guy in the Vodafone shop yesterday who said I should uninstall or disable my internet security which led me to switch off Zone Alarm and lo and behold I can get back online!

    What a nightmare.

So I've had to switch off Zone Alarm in order to be on here now.

If anyone is online now - pls can you tell me what I now need to do to update ZA, given that it's switched off now? Sorry to be a dunce. I also don't know what version or parts of ZA I currently have only computer.

Would I be better off uninstalling ZA completely and re-installing it? If so, pls could someone tell me the website address as it's ages since I uploaded ZA and I can't remember it.

I will need some serious de-stressing after all this - and some apologising to be done to Vodafone...

    Thx in advance

Suggest that you read this thread here about security on your PC for free.

Perhaps get Spybot Search & Destroy for starters, just remember to check for updated once a week and immunize after each download of the latest updates.

Read post #3 of this thread. Right click on the ZA icon in your task bar to find what you have installed.

    Hi,
Go to http://www.zonealarm.com Click on the yellow box on the bottom right. If you have the free version (they are calling it the basic firewall) click on the link & install it. Zonealarm will then restart & you will be sorted.

Well everybody agrees that a third party software firewall is better and more easily configured than the rather basic M$ firewall and as they are available for free, it's a no brainer really!

Thanks espresso, I’ll sort this out later as I must get some sleep as I was working last night.

    Thanks again, great help!

Back to the previous point, if you've got a router then you don't need to go overboard on locking your computer down with software firewalls which aren't the silver bullet to computer security a lot of people will regard them as.

Horses for courses though. I guess you can't put a price on peace of mind.
