buyer has not responded to my e-mails despitre offering collection from work so I'll just have to wait for the NPB process to complete and then re-sell. I wouldn't have minded so much if he'd at least contacted me before bidding but the only contact I've had from him has just been e-mails asking for my telephone number after he bought and at no time has he ever asked if personal collectionis OK with me. If I didn't mind personal collection I'd have used the local free paper!!

I'm getting totally hacked off with this buyer now - he has finally responded by an e-mail and it all it says is "why won't you give me your contact number". I have replied politely saying that I have informed him of my conditions of sale and if he doesn't like them then we should mutually agree to end the sale.

He isn't responding to the NPB process I've started. I can't wait for the 7 days to be over so I don't have to deal with this man any more. I'd happily put up with a neg to not have anything more to do with him any more!!

Just worked out I don't have to wait 7 days - I've ended the dispute saying I don't want to communicate with the seller any more, I've been refunded my FVF, I've blocked him from bidding again and readvertised the item. I'm expecting the negative feedback but with 302 positives I don't think it'll effect my reputation vey much and as his feedback is only 4, he has more to lose than me.
  • Good for you. A buyer who assumes that local pick-up is OK without bothering to ask first deserves whatever they get. If it is not listed as an option in the ad, they have no right to assume it will be offered. That said, if I requested (before bidding) to pick up a bulky or fragile item if I won so I could save on p&p, and the seller refused, I'd be suspicious and unlikely to bid on the item. Personally, I'd have no problem with offering local pick-up, but I wouldn't invite a customer into my house, I'd complete the transaction as quickly as possible at my front door.

Absolutely agree, i have picked up on many occassions, if the item is listed near me then i prefer to do that, but i ask first and if the seller doesn't want me to ( and several have said no) i then decided whether i want to bid or not. i would never dream of asking afterwards and cancelling by payment if i have tried to change the rules.

BTW, the buyer can get both your address and phone number from eBay - i beleive it is in the T's and C's you sign up to. Follow the how do i contact my seller link on help.

I have used this (actually how do i contact my buyer) when i have had problems with none paying bidders.

I have no negatives on around 600 trades, i received one once but had it removed ( a buyer from the USA bought a tie, said it was too small and wanted me to refund it, i wouldn't he negged me) this guy only had negatives so was on minus 6!

I buy and sell a lot less these days, i take my commitments very seriously and aim to be a good trader, too many now do not. i never trade with less than 10 rarely with less than 20. i have a lot to lose if things don't go well, they don't.

Ebay really doesn't do enough to protect the good people out there IMHO
  • Just to keep you informed. I didn't hear from that buyer again and just sold the item again for £3 more. No negative feedback from the original buyer either. I don't think I'll give him any feedback either. Thanks for all your advice and comments.
