Buyer wants to come to my home

When my daughter's boyfriend bought something from a local seller he arranged to meet at their mutually convenient Somerfield in the car park. He just checked the item was OK, gave the cash and was off in 10 minutes. Meant not paying postage and safe arrival of a fragile model car. I wouldn't like someone calling at my home either so this seems an ideal solution. You could take a friend along too if you're nervous.0

I do put collection in my auctions, but will only allow it when Hubby is at home (only ever once anyway!)
However, those that ask, I will point out first that it has to be when Hubby is home as the dog is too big for me handle with strangers, but hubby is big enough to cope.
It has put 3 winners off!!0 -
You don't have to let him in your house. You can do the transaction on your doorstep. Just make sure your dad/brother/boyfriend/male friend/female friend is there in the room when you answer the door.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

Like black-saturn says, I always let buyers collect from home if they request. I put the item by the door & we do the transaction on the doorstep. Always very friendly

I really do not like the fact that he wants your phone number and your address.
Even if you do have a male there when the guy is suppossed to turn up - what is to say he will not turn up earlier or later when you are on your own?"This site is addictive!"

Who is to say he will not turn up any time. I would never do a transaction at home. Specially with arranging the actual meeting - you say 'Oh well I don't get back from work until 6pm' they then come round and burgle your house while your out!0

I had my first collection from my house the other day (would have been a bit hard to post, it was a lawnmower!) The guy was absolutely fantastic and drove from Kent into Central London to get it.
I did exactly what roses did, put the item by the door and completed the transaction

Both of which he will have if he posts payment / pulls your contact details from ebay.0 -

True, but from what I've read so far, he doesn't seem bright enough to think of that!0
