Sky's callout fee is as low as they can reasonably do - repairs are not their core business, they make their money on your subscriptions and extras and want you to keep giving them money, so do a good deal for fixes.
  • Hi all
I actually work for one of these warranty companies and I can confirm all data is purchased from an outside company who get their information from life style consumer survey's. Sky don't actually provide any cover after the warranty is expired, however if you call them with a problem they will either charge £65 for just the call out or recommend the sky protect plan which is a pay monthly scheme. Please be aware that this company is endorsed by Sky but not part of Sky if you read the small print on receipt of paperwork you will see it is Domestic and General an insurance company. Sky is only recommending this insurance company due to them paying Sky to do so and I know this as I use to work for Sky before working for a warranty company. Sky just don't want people finding a cheaper cover for their system. It is really recommended you get a cover with a company as will cost you less in the long run and so suggest asking all the right questions and reading the paperwork on receipt of the confirmation of the cover you have taken out as you have 7 days cooling off period and 3 months cooling off period you have received your paperwork yet. There are warranty companies out there who are very honest and will tell you they are not sky and you can check out most of these companies on company house website.

I HAVE been scammed - what an idiot!! I had a call saying my renewal was due and would I like to renew for 3 years. I did - at £140.00 - the money has gone out of my bank via my Debit card and I am now trying to get it back and also have had to change my card! I wish I'd been mopre careful - I even have a direct debit for the RIGHT Sky repair company but with these pushy guys on the phone I totally forgot that. I will NEVER give my details on the phone again.

Have you received all your paperwork from this company? and did you think they were sky if so you can claim your money back, just let me know the answers to the questions and I will be able to help you try and claim the money back if you dont want the cover
  • I was just called by these con-merchants. Amongst the many things that I said to them was the fact that I was TPS registered and should not have been called in the first place.

The caller claimed that that was not the case, they could call anyone and when I said "that's breaking the law" they said
    "How stupid"
    and hung up.

So, that's got rid of them
I am a cow so cannot speak Bullshine but I do recognise its smell when I come upon it.

Just seen this message and it rings a big bell with me. I have been battling over the last year cancelling agreements set up in my mums name for TV and sky maintenance services. She has Alzeihmers and therefore cannot make decisions on her own.

Is there anyway of stopping companies ringing up apart from TPS? She is registered with TPS but it still happens. Also, is there anyway I can register a compliant / investigation? At the worst point it was costing her £30 - £40 a month having maintenance with 4 companies.
