There's an article on The Register :-

Thank goodness it is just Zonealarm! Imagine the problems if it were all 3rd party firewalls!A friend is someone who understands your past, believes in your future, and accepts you just the way you are.0 -
Must be a sad day for ZoneAlarm when a Norton product is better designed in this instance.0

True, though I guess (hopefully!) MS would have been more likely to spot the problem before release.
You mean the Microsoft's pursuit of excellence. Waaaaaa ha ha ha!:rotfl:A friend is someone who understands your past, believes in your future, and accepts you just the way you are.0 -
This is taken from Zone Alarm's website
By now, everyone who is using ZA, knows that Microsoft's update KB951748 broke ZA....
It makes you wonder how many helpdesks of all the various ISPs are being deluged with similar calls."The trouble with quotations on the Internet is that you never know whether they are genuine" - Charles Dickens0 -
Microsoft screwed up Zone Alarm with the launch of Vista and they've done it again with this patch. Apparently they did not tell the firewall manufactures what they were doing. Microsoft have said that it's theirs to fix, not ZA's. So best to deinstall or system restore until a revised patch is issued.No-one would remember the Good Samaritan if he'd only had good intentions. He had money as well.

It conflicts with ZoneAlarm, setting the ZA internet security slider to medium from high
should also work.
Yup, this worked for me. I considered uninstalling the update but decided against it. I'll just wait until ZA or MS fix the problem. I was rather bewildered when I couldn't get the Internet to work, and initially confused as to why it seemed that ZA was the problem. Hm.0 -

Umm not quite. Zone Labs were too lazy to adapt their software to the new OS even though they had access to do so years in advance. Software and drivers are written for an OS not the other way around."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

I didn't hear that said at the time. Since Zone Alarm existed before Vista it was surely up to Microsoft to accommodate ZA, not the other way round. You would think that Microsoft would test new software with all widely used applications. Zone Alarm was not the only application that experienced problems with Vista as I understand it.No-one would remember the Good Samaritan if he'd only had good intentions. He had money as well.

And people complain Windows is too bloated. They can't accomodate all the apps otherwise it's a pointless exercise rewriting the OS to implement new technologies. Sure MS try and make it as backward compatible as possible but that's a bad thing because it blows up the OS in order to accomodate legacy technologies. Vista has been around for literally years specifically for the purpose of the software and hardware manufacturers to implement patches etc. I can't think of a single operating system ever written to accomodate existing applications. Maybe you'd like to tell Apple and the Linux community that one. There's one reason and one alone that some software and hardware doesn't work with Vista and that's the manufacturers were too lazy or didn't want to put resources into updating their products. It'a not MS's responsibility and in fact in Vista they actually have written an unprecedented number of their own drivers to make up for the other companies' failings. The same thing has happened with every new release of windows (or any other OS) there are companies who don't adapt their software to the new OS."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"
