  • With reference to the 'Travel Money Maximiser' the current chart topper shouldn't be top. They charge a £10 fee for trades under £5,000 and this isn't taken into account in the figure returned when you input your required exchange amount.
  • Hi everyone, i'm new to this forum so I hope I have got this right. Has anyone on here used the Caxton fx pre paid card? Was it OK and how easy was it to apply. I am afraid I am a bit cynical when it come to money matters and I am worried that I will load the card and it won't work when abroad.

    Hi everyone :)

I like this thread, it's all about holidays :D

At the end of Sept I'm going to Oz for 1 week, followed by NZ for 2 weeks. I'm thinking the best thing to do is apply for an Abbey Zero card and use that. I'll be getting some AUS$ from the airport though to tide me over when I get there. Does this sound like the best plan? (I don't have a Nationwide account)

This was also my plan but, Abbey had other ideas! My advise would be DO NOT apply online as your application will get lost!!!

Apply A.S.A.P as they are SLOW! SLOW! SLOW!

Check out this thread before deciding.

I gave up in the end but, unlike you I am going to France for a week so can easily pop in to M & S for my currency.
Excited for Florida - May 2012 :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Hi everyone, I seem to have a mental block this morning!

I will soon be buying £2.5k of various currencies from Currency Express.

I have a choice of Cahoot Debit, Nationwide Silver Credit or BOS Debit cards to do so, whichever one I use will be paid in full asap. Which of these is the cheapest option please?

    All help gratefully received.:o

Assuming that's an HBOS debit card, it doesn't charge a fee. Cahoot do, and any credit card is to be avoided
  • Can any one tell me how much better off in pound notes I would be by using a nationwide/po card than just changing £700 at M&S. Are we talking serious money or just a couple of quid

I'm guessing a little bit but maybe you'd get something like an extra 40€ that way on that sort of sum

Thanks JF77, I'll read through that thread and hopefully things will become clearer!

Is that a wild guess, if I am going to save a reasonable amount of money I would consider opening another a/c. Can anyone tell me an exact figure?

    Not that wild a guess

At 1.28 you would get 896€ which was the Nationwide rate on the day I posted

At 1.22, which is a good rate for a BdeC you'd get 854€. The guess was that M&S would be around this rate.

At 1.19 which was one of several PO rates at the time you'd get 833€
