Hi, just read the article and realised I'm a bit stuck for choices. I have an IF debit, HSBC debit, IF credit and Egg credit. Unlikely to get a Nationwide account or another credit card due to being a student.
I did plan to use my mum's PO card but not everywhere is chip and pin yet. Is it still worth taking the PO card for cash withdrawals?

Using a credit card for cash withdrawals is rarely a good idea - you will lose the advantageous exchange rate in cash advance fees and interest.

Is Tenerife likely to have chip and pin though? I can't sign at all, let alone my mum's signature!!

I have a Cash Card from nationwide tied to my Flex-Account it has the Cirrus and Link logos.......my question....withdrawing cash abroad is, it correct with this card nationwide wont charge a fee but the provider bank which runs the atm will.......I checked on the Cirrus site to find a Fee-Free atm but none were found,so,for example,on a £500 withdrawal from my flex-account balance what will the foreign bank charge me?
    Political?....I dont do Political....well,not much!

    Any advice for Bulgaria?

I have natwest and lloyds debit cards and egg credit. I'm not too worried about getting the best possible deal but I do want to be sensible!

I know that making purchases on these cards is a bad idea and taking small amounts of cash out is also bad.

I'm worried that if I exchange the amount I think I'll spend before I go, it might get stolen. Is it more sensible to change half and then withdraw the other half using the natwest debit card in one go when I get there?

Does this sound sensible? Also does anyone know if Cash machines are easy to find/have their own additional charges in bulgaria (Golden Sands)?

    Good Afternoon,
I am going on a cruise shortly and visiting several non euro countries, notably
    Denmark,Sweden,Estonia and St Petersburg.
Currency exchange on the ship is £ Sterling or Travellers' Cheques with a 2% charge for the latter.
In view of the small amounts of cash required at each location,i.e for refreshments, postcards etc, what is the best way of getting it ?
I have a HALIFAX debit card and BARCLAYS credit
Thanks for advice from seasoned travellers !

The rate should be the same, since they are both processed through Visa. In general I would prefer the credit card for purchases as it gives you better protection from fraud.
