I have a Natwest and Nationwide flex account debit card, neither of which are recommended to use, and I'm not sure a prepaid card is the best option as I'm only there for two weeks? Whats the best option...?
You use the Clarity for cash and clear the balance asap.
If you received a card with a 17.9% APR and you withdrew the equivalent £1000 and cleared the balance a month later, you would pay around 1.4% interest. Clear it as soon as you are back and halve the interest.0 -
I would like to share my experience using no1Currency.com.
Normally I get my Euro's ordered from Thomas Cook
But I only needed £80 of Icelandic krona (ISK) for dd's school trip in a couple of weeks. ISK seems harder to come by, and less than £100 even more so.
no1Currency came up as the best amount for £80 to be delivered in store within a few days (from travelmoney moneysavingexpert com). "FCA authorised? No" put me off slightly.
I ordered on Monday lunch time, £80.06 gave me 14000 krona, I chose it to be delivered to a local Cash Generator shop. I received an email immediately (1pm) saying someone would contact me by phone or email within 24 hours to confirm the order.
At just after 5pm I received an email from a Client Account Manager saying the order has been accepted.
"We are delighted to advise your order will be available for collection from Cash Generator after 1pm on Wednesday"
Email went on to say:
Payment is required upon collection of your order. Please note the following payment options are available at Cash Generator :
· Cash
· Debit card
· Credit Card – 2% charge
Which is great, because this means I can't lose any money if no1Currency.com or Cash Generator become bankrupt. (So I needn't of been put off by "FCA authorised? No")
Wednesday, I go to Cash Generator (the door had been left open so the smell was okay) and explain I'd ordered some currency. I was directed to the Money generator booth, where the transaction took place. I paid on debit card and 2 x 5000 kronas and 8 x 500 kronas were counted out in front of me (I had to google an image of 5000 / 500 ISK notes) and put into an envelope.
So all good, apart from having to pay £2 parking in a town.0 -
I'm going to Indonesia for 7 weeks on Tuesday.
I can't get my head around whether it'd be cheaper to withdraw cash in Indonesia with my Natwest debit card or on my Post Office credit card?
Can anyone shed some light please?
Thanks!

In general you should not withdraw cash on a credit card. Use a debit card. You get involved in complicated interest payments on credit card cash withdrawals.
My experience in Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand has led me to take cash in pounds sterling to change to local currency at the many exchange booths or banks. They provide good exchange rates, unlike in Europe.0 -
Hi
I have had FairFX cards for Europe and US before is there an equivalent that can be used for Aus $
Thanks0 -
Citi offers multiple currency accounts linked to one debit card. You can also deposit cash in various currencies and $ cheques, also the exchange rates appear to be good.0

I'm trying to buy some Zloty online with the above website, each time I try to register I get an error saying "We were unable to sufficiently verify your identity. Please check the details." At this stage they don't even know my card details so how do they know something is incorrect? The card is registered to the address I'm entering and all the details are correct. The error message doesn't direct me to where the issue lies.
Has anyone else come up against this?0 -
Hello all,
I am travelling to the US and then to Canada in around six weeks...and I wanted to know what the best method of taking this cash would be...I am assuming it is two seperate prepaid cards ie one for US dollars and a seperate one for Canadian...is this correct? I do not want to use a credit card so believe this would be the best option for me.
Any advice that can be given would be greatly appreciated0 -

Take a look at Kalixa Pay(using Promo code), ICE Prepaid GBP and/or FairFx Anywhere.0 -
Sorry to join on this thread with a new question, but I 'm a new forum-er and can't find the "new thread" button.
I'm off to Uganda in 2 weeks (today) and trying to work out how to take about £1500 with me. The FairFX and other top cash cards are Mastercard, and I'm advised that most ATMs in Uganda don't take Mastercard, only Visa. I've got a Nationwide debit card and Co-op credit card, both Visa. Has anyone advice on taking money to Uganda?
Many thanks.0
