Having checked travelmoneymax, I arranged to pick up 700 euros today from one Moneycorp's two branches in Oxford Street, London. At the first branch, I was offered the euros either in 100 euro notes or 5 euro notes. The second one had only 100 euro notes.
When I pointed out that this was not practical, both managers said it had been a busy weekend, there was nothing they could go about it, and if I didn't like it, I could go elsewhere. The Ryanair approach to service.
Up to you, but I wouldn't deal with Moneycorp again.0 -

To report back I tried to get a ICE Travellers cash as i rang them and the customer service woman was very helpful. However I've entered my passport number and no matter what I do it says this isn't accepted and to call them!! When I called them they said I can't have an account as the systems not accepting my passport details! Ridiculous. So I just went with mytravelcash in the end..it was so much easier. Maybe next time nifty I'll try ICE but they need to improve their online system it let them down0

Thanks for the feedback. Perhaps more and they'll take notice.0 -

Thanks Nifty for your "helpful" comment.
I've put my reading glasses on & it still doesn't tell me if the MSE link to FairFX is out of date.
Also, as I have never seen 'This Is Money' or 'Opodo' mentioned on MSE, it didn't help this confused Old Fogey.
However, I looked via the Moneysupermarket site and no fee was added.0 -

So because the websites aren't mentioned on MSE you ignored them??
In my opinion the advice given by MSE on Prepaid cards is just [STRIKE]horrible[/STRIKE] incomplete.
People are not necessarily getting the best card for their circumstances, but instead are being led to one card...as in your case.
Why would a card that has both a exchange rate loading(up to 2%) and an ATM withdrawal charge(1.5€) be the best in all cases??
More than reading glasses are needed here.0 -

I've now searched other sites & see what you mean about the 'incomplete advice' on MSE - now you see why I'm called what I'm called!!:rotfl:0 -

The card is ok if you plan to only use it for purchases in countries that use the Euro.
But I would have chosen a Global use card with a different pricing structure.0 -
There should be a warning on the NationwideSelect credit card – I just got one and there’s a catch to the foreign exchangefee. I didn’t see it any literature or terms until I actually got a leafletwith the welcome letter from Nationwide:
You only get commission-free purchases abroad based on yourspend in the UK. So every £5 you spend in the UK earns you £1 of commission-freeallowance for using your card for purchases abroad. Any purchases over that “allowance”you’ve built up will be charged a non-Sterling transaction fee.
Sneaky I think!
