The Clarity will be better than any pre-paid card as long as you pay ATM withdrawals off within 3 weeks or so, even if you get it at 25% APR!

Of course this is not the case. Anyone with the Kalixa Pay card would pay 0.75% on the maximum ATM withdrawal. That would equal approx. 3 weeks of borrowing on the Clarity at it's best rate, not it's alternate rates.

The OP also needs to note that paying the full statement balance, does not necessarily equate to paying one month's worth of interest.

I'm getting so lazy these days. I posted a finger in the air estimate knowing you'd correct me if I was wrong ;)

OK lets do it properly. The worst Clarity APR is 21.95% which works out to a monthly rate of 1.667%, daily rate of 0.0548%.

The best possible Kalixa charge is when making withdrawals of exactly £300 when it'll be £2.25 ie 0.75% as you say (though this is unlikely as you won't be able to withdraw exactly £300 in a foreign currency and a lot of ATMs have lower limits anyway), and ignoring the card registration fee.

So the best possible Kalixa charge (which would be hard to achieve) would be equivalent to the worst Halifax APR for 13.7 days.

So basically as long as you pay ATM withdrawals within 2 weeks on the Clarity it'll be better value than any prepaid card.

    Indeed.

Hi, wonder if anyone could advise please :)

We are going to Florida in August and I'm wondering which credit card to apply for:

Halifax Clarity - for obvious reasons
    or a
0% interest credit card - so I have a few more months to pay off my spends when we return

I have an old Santander Zero card but this is dormant

I also have a Tesco credit card for the odd large purchase but don't think this is the wisest option to take

    What's the general consensus?

    Thanks,

    Ali

Wake the Zero CC up? Get a Metro bank debit card.

I'm sure that Martins' article states there is no £9.95 charge when buying over 60€ yet the application adds the fee in. I go via the correct links.

If you really want this card, both This Is Money and Opodo have free card links.

    Nifty.
Card is for teenage Daughter going to Spain, seemed the safest and cheapest option rather than cash. Do you know otherwise?

    Hi,
I am not sure at all about this. My son is off to Magaluf with friends on 4 June and only has a debit account. I suggested it wouldn't be sensible to take this card with him and that a prepaid would be better. I don't know which to suggest now though. He would likely be making withdrawals every couple of days (because he doesn't want to have a lot to either lose or be stolen - it is an 18-30 hol - say no more) Can anyone suggest which is best for him, should he get one in euros, does he even have time to get one now, etc. All advice would be gratefully received.
