Would be grateful for some help here. We are going to Florida for 3 weeks in the summer and our current Credit Cards are not on the list of best buys so need a new one. I need to apply now as I need to book some things in Florida now. I was going to go for the Halifax Clarity when I realised (with horror!) that we now qualify for the Saga one - but only just. It looks as though it would be a better deal for us as you don't pay interest on cash withdrawals if we need them but everything else looks good as long as you pay off in full. The travel money link though says that there is an annual fee for the Saga one. I can't find any evidence of this though. Does anyone know please?
Also, my husband will have no problems getting a card but I don't earn enough. Would I be able to get a card on his account. All our finances are in joint names.
No annual fee for the SAGA, but a 2% ATM withdrawal fee.
Yes, he can get an additional card for you.0 -
Thanks for the info. So if I withdrew £200 I'd pay £4 but not pay anything on top of that in terms of interest? Still getting to grips with this.0

If you paid the bill in full on the by the due date. With HC, if you paid earlier you would pay less.
Metro Bank CC too. Try their products(Debit and Credit card) if you are in or around London.0 -
Looking to start gettig some Euros for our holiday.
I was thinking of takig 1/2 in Euros and 1/2 on a pre-paid visa card.
If i loaded £50-£100 at a time onto the card will my exchange rate be different each time, or stay at the rate when i take the card out?
Thank you in advance.0 -
If it's a euro prepaid card the exchange rate will be different every time you add money to it
If it's a sterling prepaid card the the exchange rate will be different every time you take money out of it.0 -
Oh I just looked at the exchange rates, again...converting pounds to Euros, and then Euros to Kroner, looks less value than pounds to Kroner; so I think Iv just answered my own question, lol! :rotfl:
Looking at Caxton Fx Global as many complaints have popped up about Travelex cards....
Perhaps you can link to the 'complaints' about the 'Cash Passport Globe' if you find any....0 -

The advice given to others here recently can also apply to you. No need to post virtually the same question as the previous posters. Just read the most recent posts for up to date info.0 -
I have a query about the Nationwide select credit card as detailed here
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/travel/cheap-travel-money#hell
It says there is no exchange rate loading. Does that mean i will get the rate as quoted on ,for eg XE.com?
Am i better buying the money using the best exchange delivery service in can find in the UK or just withdrawing local currency using this card and paying the 2.5% fee and paying it all back when i get home?Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -
Yes, you will get the rate quoted on the Visa web page which is basically the inter-bank rate.
If you want to use the card to take cash out the ATM then just get the Halifax Clarity card as that also gives you the inter-bank rate but there is not 2.5% to take money out, only the annual cash advance rate which is about 1% per month typically (or less if you pre-load the card or pay it off as soon as the transactions appear).0
