can anyone help with this pls? Just applied for the Halifax card and got turned down, as this is highly unusual I did martin's experian trial for my report - nothing unusual. paid the £5.95 to get my score - perfect score of 999 (This score suggests you are a very low risk borrower − most lenders would expect very few people in this category to experience serious problems with repaying credit) the only small issue they flagged was "You have several credit agreements (excluding mortgages), and the outstanding balance is high" but as my balance is only 10% of what is available to me, i'm a little confused....... any clues for me pls?0

You have 10 times the "high" current balance available to you - you could potentially have a very large balance tomorrow...the only small issue they flagged was "You have several credit agreements (excluding mortgages), and the outstanding balance is high" but as my balance is only 10% of what is available to me, i'm a little confused....... any clues for me pls?0 -
...is metro only available to londoners?
As mentioned by Baldur it is not retricted to people living in London. I don't live in London and was able to open one!;)
It is worth checking with them what paperwork you need to open the account, especially as you have to open the account in the branch. I needed two proofs of address and proof of identity.
Once the account is opened you can manage it through their internet banking.

No fee Credit cards for purchasing
1. Halifax Clarity*
2. Santander Zero*
3. Post Office
*Can be used for withdrawing money at ATMS, no cash advance fee charged, however you will have to pay interest on the money withdrawn typically between 1-2% per month.
The Clarity Typical APR is 12.9%, which is less than 1% interest.
For me, it's the easiest way to go. Yes, you can save 1% by moving money to a debit card account, but is it worth the time and trouble to save such a small amount? I've been using the Clarity for a couple of months now with no problems and expected rates for EUR, RON, and CHF.
Meanwhile, my erstwhile employer continues to mandate the Amex Card for all expenses. I just hope they've negotiated a big kickback on the commission.0 -

I don't do Bargain Basement when travelling for the company.
