To all you cartridge hunters, thought you would be interested to hear about my experience with MAXIMANS
who were listed on this post as being reliable and cheap. I have an Epson RX500 and replacement cartridges from Epson are a rip-off so ordered a black one (inital trial) from Maximans. They sent and invoiced the wrong cartridge and when I e-mailed them they insisted that until the old one was returned they would not send out a new one (in case I was a cheat trying to get 2 for the price of 1). What sort of service is that when it is their mistake. 3 e-mails later they will refund the cost WHEN they receive the old one back and are not sending a replacement! They say the matter is now closed. You know what my recommendation is for this outfit!!!!"0844 COSTS YOU MORE"0 -

Have only just read the BBC article on Epson printer chips that you mentioned. What a rip-off. Does anyone out there know how to override the Epson chip system, as I do not like leaving 38% of my ink still in the cartridge.
Lets get hip and fool the chip !!!
I've only just joined these forums, so apologies if this is a bit late, but I use an Epson Photo Stylus 750.
What I do when the chip on the colour cartridge shows "empty" is to start the "replace cartridge" procedure, take the "empty" one out, then close the lid and switch off the power.
I then re-start the printer, at which point it moves the head out, then quickly switch off again, replace the cartridge, and once more re-start.
This convinces the printer that it's got a "new" colour cartridge and it re-sets the chip.
However that's not all....
Given that I do most of my printing in B&W, and that the printer uses colour ink *even when* it's only printing black, there's no point in having a charged cartridge at all.
So I let it run out, then, if I want to print colour, I repeat the above process to "trap" the head in the "out" position, run a colour head cleaner through it a few times, then replace the cleaner with a full colour cartridge.
Once I've run the "head cleaning" cycle a couple of times to charge the system I can print what I want in colour, then swap back without wasting expensive ink.
(Sorry if this seems a bit long winded, but it's really very simple when you've done it a couple of times).
As to claims that this will "damage" the print head, well I've done this several times, sometimes leaving it "dry" for several months and it still works fine!if i had known then what i know now0 -
Might also want to try this link
http://www.inkmad.com
Currently has buy one get one free offers on their version of the cartridges for the following "Epson Stylus Color 440, Epson Stylus Color 460, Epson Stylus Color 640, Epson Stylus Color 660, Epson Stylus Color 670, Epson Stylus Color 740, Epson Stylus Color 760, Epson Stylus Color 860, Epson Stylus Color 1160, Epson Stylus Scan 2000"
Cost £3.99 for the black and £7.99 for the colour.
Not the cheapest but a reasonable deal.0 -
I would like to mail someone who owns or has knowledge about the Epson C82 printer as I am unsure if I should change this less than a year old machine. Thanks. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

I have just used https://www.inkylink.co.uk as I wanted an alternative to Epson Durabrite for C84. Ordered evening Friday arrived AM Tuesday and prices seem pretty reasonable.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0
