  • Even if you can only afford to do one room per month, at least you know it's all going to get done and you have something to look forward to for the next few months. You would be surprised just how many people will be prepared to help you, I know I was. I even ended up getting a mini garden makeover earlier this year thanks to my mum and it's full of pretty pink flowers and pink solar lights now!

I'd love to redecorate but I'm not sure I can afford it. I'm really just gutting the place and rearranging furniture at the moment. Problem is that it can all be so expensive.

RAS on broken record track here.

Please join your local group (or groups) of www.freecycle.org.

Because there will be folks on there who have three quarters of a box of tiles left over that they want to get rid of, enough for a splash back in the bathroom or loo. Or two tins of emulsion paint for which they have no receipt. Or a few rolls of wall paper.

Alternatively you could collect white emulsion from different people, mix it up and use a tinter to add colour it.

And you could collect different coloured tiles of the same size and style to make a multicoloured splash back in the kitchen, or maybe sheets of glass, polycarbonate or metal.

I didn't get much done yesterday. It was my neice's birthday so I went to the cinema with her and the rest of my sister's family and had dinner with them.
When I came home I took a Nytol then went to bed. 12 hours sleep. Bliss. I was seriously suffering from the night before. So the clean up starts again today!
And RAS, I joined freecycle last week so I'm keeping my eyes peeled.

    Hi Hun

Well done....you have got through the first two weeks and moved back. That is a marvellous achievement and you can pat yourself on the back. :T

Baby steps still...and of course there will be setbacks...very sorry to hear about your nan...but a course of antibiotics should clear it up (I have just been through the same thing with an animal bite).

and crying is all part of the healing process..you have been hurt....lots.........so you need to give yourself lots of big hugs..:grouphug: ..be gentle with yourself......and allow yourself the time and space to cry. Pm/ring/Post us here if you feel lonely and want company ...and plan little treats for yourself...even if it is just a bar of choccy one day :EasterBun

...... or a walk in the sunshine the next. (You have some lovely beaches up there....) Don't set too many tasks to do in one day..it will encourage you to beat yourself up if you don;t complete them. And when (if) you start to get angry about what's happened...a cheap stuffed toy to work out the agression with a sharp implement works wonders!!;) Althouhg I have o admit the jelly babies sound good too!

I'm still blubbering months later.....but at least I'm not doing it every day now :D ....and there are whole days when I don;t think of him..... ......much:rotfl:

You WILL get there...but it takes time and it's going to feel pretty carp at the moment......but we're all here to help you take your first steps towards a brighter future. Hang on in there....and good luck with the decorating...freecycle is defo the way to go!

    Hugs to you flower

Some good news - my gran got out tonight but apparently the hospital don't think she should be in the house on her own. That has to be her decision though. She still has all her faculties and has already turned down sheltered accommodation on three separate ocassions. I wish she would go though. She's not ready for a home but sheltered accommodation would be great for her.
And on a slightly less than MS note but I don't care - I'm getting a dog. I went to the dog home today and fell in love with an abandoned lurcher. She'll be coming to live with me in a couple of weeks, once she's been spayed.

Hi Mupeteer - good to see you feel strong enough to reinstate your avatar :) Getting a dog is a sure-fire way to cheer yourself up and will give you a good reason for getting up and motivated each day. On the down side, however, they can cost a bloomin' fortune so I hope you have a contingency plan.

Do you have a name picked yet or will you be staying with what she is already called?
YOUR = belonging to you (your coat); YOU'RE = you are (I hope you're ok)

really....it's not hard to understand :T
