Hi, I'm selling some stuff on Ebay, pretty low value stuff, one pair of trousers was up to almost £20 though, whch was good as I really need the money; unfortunately ebay pulled the trousers off for keyword spamming (I added one extra word in..) and sent me an email about it:
"We appreciate that you chose eBay to list the following listing(s):
[details of listing]
However, your listing was in breach of eBay's Keyword Spamming policy and has been removed from eBay. We have credited all associated fees to your account and notified eBay users associated with the transaction that it has been cancelled.
We would like to take this opportunity to let you know what part of your listing is not permitted.
Your listing(s) contains the following information:
In Title:
[word]
Keyword spamming is not permitted on eBay. This occurs when members place brand names or other inappropriate keywords in a title or description for the purpose of gaining attention or diverting members to a listing.Sellers are not permitted to make comparisons between items in a listing title. For more information on Keyword Spamming visit the following Help page:
http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/polici...g-keywords.html
IMPORTANT NOTICE: If you relist this, or any other item that breaches eBay policy, your eBay privileges could be suspended. We value you as a member of our community and wish to continue this relationship, so we must ask you to refrain from further breaches of the User Agreement and eBay policy."
I won't 'spam' again as I don't want my account suspending, but I just want to check - will I be able to relist the trousers without the added word, or will they suspend my account? (It seems so unfair though, *everyone* keyword spams but it had to be my listing that got pulled...) Thanks in advance anyway

I would have thought that you can relist the item as long as it complies with the guidelines. EBay can be a bit hit and miss when pulling listings, maybe someone reported you, for example, a competitor?
But don't spam again as they will no doubt be watching you for a bit.0 -
what was the word you used? "Miss Sixty" A lot of companies watch for things on ebay and report them if they are using their brand name! Someone would have reported you.
you can relist the trousers, don't add any "extra words"

I had a listing removed today too, re: Intellectual Property Policies and VeRO
but all other listings of the identical items havent been pulled, i'm confused
it says if i relist again, i could get my account suspended

the named company or brand can have any item pulled by contacting Ebay, Ebay also have to do a certain agreed percentage with companies unhappy about sale of thier "products" themselves to protect against any kind of legal action against Ebay from these companies.... usually this is the main reason things get pulled, we should all thankfully Ebay refund the listing costs as they are under no obligation to do so since you breached your seller T&C, its goodwill they realise you are backed in a corner as much as they are from corporations and refund but also a good publicity stunt to keep seller's happy about the service
hope thats helps clarify a few things
If I helped or saved you money - Thank me
If I helped you spend some money - spank me
If I done both - :lipsrseal me:eek:

Thanks
I think I'll wait a while before relisting them without the extra word, don't want to risk getting my account suspended... 0 -
Sorry for being thick but what is keyword spamming?

you're not being thick! not everyone knows! - its when a seller uses other named brands to attract more buyers! (search manipulation)
It explains it better in ebay help:

Keyword Spamming
Keyword spamming in listings is not permitted. Keyword spamming occurs when members place brand names or other inappropriate keywords in a title or description to gain attention or divert members to a listing.
Breaches of this policy may result in a range of actions, including:- Listing cancellation
- Limits on account privileges
- Account suspension
- Forfeit of eBay fees on cancelled listings
- Loss of PowerSeller status

I think the original post defines it quite clearly:Rose999 wrote:Sorry for being thick but what is keyword spamming?
