iPhone 3G Available to Pre-order from 8am today

I cannot understand why anyone would find the 3G version a 'must have', especially when there are so many worthy alternatives with GPS and better cameras. That said - do remember O2 are also making the handset available on pre-pay, so no credit check, no risk of credit reference defaults etc etc.
Seems the most sensible way to go....
Unfortunately, none of the many worthy alternatives with GPS and better cameras synch properly with Apple Macs. Which is why people want iPhones.
What I'd most like would be for someone to find a way to link an iPod Touch by Bluetooth to one of the many worthy alternatives with a better camera and then use that as a modem!
Don't laugh at banana republics. :rotfl:
As a result of how you voted in the last three General Elections,
you'd now be better off living in one.

Am nosey in what it is like?
I'm going to Carphonewarehouse at lunchtime and I suspect they'll probably have sold out, but I'm hoping they'll have a demonstrator that I can play on just to see what its like to use!0 -
Did anyone manage to get one today? I'm still not sure whether to get the iphone or the samsung tocco (my contract ends 14th august) but am gonna have a look if they have any left later (very slim chance), any first impressions?0

Have been a loyal customer of O2 for 5 years now and have the iphone. Registered an interest online. Got the message from O2 stating on the 1st July that they will contact me before the 11th to let me know how to apply. Got nothing till the 10th July saying the list of stores and what times to go to. Got there at 7.45am only to wait for 1hr and 45 mins and be told we only had 24 8meg and 9 16meg phones and you take a ticket and wait. But all the 16meg have gone. SO I am not happy as not only was I not given the chance to pre-order as an existing customer, I read on the site that they took 200,000 online applications and they split 50-50 new and old customers. Where is there loyalty to existing customers? Looking for the CEO details to register my complaint now.0
