advised needed regarding a purchase of vouchers on ebay
1 week ago i bought on buy it now some vouchers from ebay, the seller stated in auction guaranteed delivery in a week, his standard postage service was 2nd class,i paid £1 extra so my item could be sent 1st class recorded so it would be trackable and quicker,on tuesday seller left me pos feedback stating fast payment(i paid immedietely)item posted,i thought 1st class recorded i should receive wednesday, thursday morning they still havent arrived,so i mailed seller regarding matter and i stated they should have arrived by now and could he provide me the tracking number as i paid a premimum for 1st class recorded,i also mentioned he had broken his week guaranteed delivery, the reply i got was this- I have posted this item 2nd class yesterday morning. So it should be with you tomorrow. I have proof of postage from Royal mail they said if anyone wants to make a claim they will have to fill in a legal doccument. I posted 10 other items at the same time so if they all go missing I will be glad that I have this proof.
i sent email back asking why he hadnt sent 1st class recorded as i requested(HE ONLY PROVIDES INSURANCE FOR ITEMS SENT RECORDED) and paid for and what he intends to do about it,i have not yet left him feedback but heas left me feedback.
what would other money savers advise me to do now, bearing in mind the postage situation+his false delivery guarantee on his auction description.

Firstly wait for item to arrive, your bargaining power is much better then.
Once item arrives politely email the seller and ask for a refund of your £1 and see what he comes back with. The email he has sent you is a bit waffly (hey look I'm inventing words!!) so he is obviously not sure what he is doing.
Incidentally assuming you paid by paypal you don't need to pay extra for recorded as the insurance is to protect the seller not the buyer. If the item doesn't arrive then you can start a paypal chargeback on day 7 and unless the seller can prove delivery (not posting) he will have funds withdrawn from his paypal account and repaid to you.
ALso, be aware that if your vouchers totalled more than £30 then neither the certificate of posting nor a recorded delivery slip will cover the loss.

the 7 days is up today,he guaranteed 7 day delivery and that was with his standard 2nd class service, the service i paid for was 1st class recorded so he has broken his delivery guarantee+sent to me by a cheaper postal service, not trackable,(i paid him £1.99 for 1st class recorded,it would have cost him 96p)as he sent 2nd class standard it would have cost him 21p,i have mailed him again but no reply,he knows he was in the wrong, luckily he as left me feedback,so if i decide to neg him he cant give me a neg as retaliation.
do you think i should today report to paypal?&do you think i should give him neg feedback.0 -
Do not be considering negative feedback yet, you have plenty of time yet and getting your item is more important.
If it has been a full 7 days then start the paypal chargeback now, at the very least it will get the sellers attention. The seller will have 10 days to respond to the complaint so that is plenty of time to get the item to you or refund you if it is lost.
I'm not quite sure though what pressure you can bring on the seller to refund your additional postage costs.

I would start the chargeback. If you receive the item in the meantime, you can always stop it.
I would hold off on the feedback for now and see how this pans out.0 -
thanks for the good advice,i will start a paypal dispute now.0

When is a feedback threat not a feedback threat?soolin wrote:I'm not quite sure though what pressure you can bring on the seller to refund your additional postage costs.
If it were me and the item turned up, I would e-mail the seller to ask for the refund and consider tossing in a throw-away line like "Please could you let me know if this is acceptable as I just want to settle this matter, leave the appropriate feedback and put the experience behind me now."0 -
Do you mean that if item turns up ask for a full refund ,or the extra i paid for better service, and if he refunds in full forget his neg feedback?0
-
You can only ask for the £1 back, there is nothing else due back unless of course the item never arrives then you will get the full paypal amount paid back.

I'm not at all surprised bleugh, regular posters here know full well the saga I have with post going all over the place. In fact today I have been on the phone to a solicitors office about papers that were posted 1st class last Friday and have still not turned up here for me.
I'm on first name terms with the post office complaints lady now
