Why do all forums have smarmy geeky outright insulting people on there who simply can't resist taking time out of there little lives to make fun of people. If the thread is so stupid then what made you feel the need to post on it.
Thank you to all the other posters I realise after reading other companys t&c's that easy jet are by no means alone and at the end of the day I guess I've just got to deal with it.
Still think its wrong profiting from peoples losses. If you need to change a name on a booking it's always going to be for a negative reason (either a bereavement or a seperation etc). The point is even if you did spend an hour plus reading the many pages of t&c's you wouldnt not book it on the grounds that somebody might die or become sick etc.
ps I had trouble downloading martins spellchecker so I used the google one instead. For some reason it left my post in greens and reds. Sure is pretty tho aint it;)0 -
In my experience Easyjet etc are quite sympathetic to a berevement situation. Quite how you consider getting dumped as been the same as losing a partner or family member through death is quite astounding though.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

We were together for 8 years and at one time deeply in love. Then I lost her!I don't recall saying it was the same but it is still a tragic situation.0 -

They are fairly sympathetic but still nowhere near as good as some of the major carriers.
When my husband died I had to cancel flights on Northwest Airlines, EVA Air, Southwest Airlines and EasyJet.
Only EasyJet took a "cancellation fee" and didn't give me a refund after seeing the death certificate - instead I was given a credit which I could only use to book another flight by calling a number that charged me at 60p per minute and initially put me through to someone who didn't know what to do and cut me off after 8 minutes.
Quite why they cannot give you a code to input on their website is beyond me - or better still, just refund the money.0 -

Sory but you missed the point about name changing.
If I was to buy a whole plane full of very cheap tickets in an easy jet sale, I would then b able to sell them all on at a profit if name changing was allowed cheaply.
As has been posted if you want a flexible ticket which allows changes you have to pay more in the first place.
You say you cant cancel, why? I may be right in thinking if you dont use the ticket you can claim the taxes back but dont quote me
You have hassle from other posters because on an almost daily basis someone comes on here and slags off ryanair/easyjet when it is rarely the fault of the airline0 -

it is not about being smarmy and geeky, if you turn it round we could say well there is always some stupid people who think they should be above terms and conditions who post and who some may say deserve what is said.
and working in a travel agents, no name changing isnt always about a negative reason ie a death or something, people just decide they dont want to go with friends or change their minds after an impulse buy and as had been said before, if you took away those rules, then companies like easyjet wouldnt be operating. Most companies do not profit from peoples loses and in the event of a death most companies are very sympathetic.
I myself may well not read all of easyjets terms and conditions, however do you really need to? I think everyone knows what their rules are..it is a no frills airlines, no changes no cancellation etc thats the basics...if anyone books with them thinking otherwise then well umm what do you expect to be honest other than the kind of comments you have now....to not only realise from a sensible point of view what kind of conditions that airline operates, to then book it and then to moan in public because you didnt realise it, believe it, read it nor understand it, then really you have to expect open season.
maybe before moaning about an airlines open policies, a little bit of self reasoning is needed here and instead of asking for sympathy about losing a loved one to put you in this situation maybe question why you lost your loved one.......think about what people have said here, step back and think is this the tip of the iceburg of yourself and your personality?
didnt read, didnt care, complacent, didnt understand, whingey, moany...this is what has showed itself in one post....8 years.....hmmmm
sorry if that is harsh....but rules are rules for a reason

shame on you donny osmond fan, I don't know the OP from Adam but I am not about to assume I know his whole personality from a few postings on MSE.
Different people have different levels of emotional tolerance and a split after 8 years is traumatic. Just becuase you know the terms and conditions of the airlines doesn't mean everyone does - not should we assume that t & c's are universal.
Give a guy a break, he's here asking for help not insults, if you don't want to give supportive advice fine, but please keep the insults to yourself or you may find you are being judged by your own standards. If anything I say starts to make sense, PANIC!0
