Unfair Easy Jet Policy (PLEAS HELP ME)

It's not the admin charge of changing the name I am against, it is also charging the difference in what was originally agreed for the price of the flight and what the airline thinks it could sell it for nearer the time.
If one party fails to fulfill their end of the contract you can only charge what it will cost you.
In this case all it is costing is the admin fee for changing the name. If you add anything to that cost it is considered to be a penalty and illegal.
The cases quoted are not relevant to the situation described. The contract is not being breached per se, it is being varied by mutual consent.Gone ... or have I?0 -
Some interesting information on this thread. Note the information and explanations from Tozer. Not exactly the same, but the concepts are the same xGone ... or have I?0

Wow cant believe how big this thread got so quickly. If anything it certainly sparked a heated debate.
Unfortunatly I have just paid the fee. Although i'm determined to keep arguing and fighting with them deep down I'm sure Il have no choice but to pay up anyway and the fee is rising daily.
They say the policy is in place to prevent people buying all there cheap seats in bulk and selling them on. Ive only ever made one booking with easyjet and I,m only changing one name on the flight.
£134 for the original booking and an additional 150.50 for changing the name. I am absolutly devastated0 -

am generally sorry but can you understand why they do the costing the way they do? Dont let this incident put you off flying with EJ in the future though - generally they are cheap and cheerful0 -

You might have only made one booking, but you are one of many thousands.
I am pretty good at spotting items to buy to sell on ebay at a profit. If Easyjet allowed people to change tickets for a minimal charge, I may be inclined to bulk buy them when they first go on sale, and then sell them on ebay (even though it is not allowed, ebay seem happy to turn a blind eye to these things - as long as they are getting their fees).
There is no way that Easyjet can differentiate between those with a genuine reason, and those that would sell tickets on for profit.Gone ... or have I?0 -
I've moved this to the Travel Board

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.0 -
the simple explanation after all the incorrect legal advice is that you undertook a contract based on person A travelling and want to substitute person B to travel. when the ticket was purchased it may have always been the intention for a "person B" to travel.
i'd rather have dmg24 representing me in court as they've obviously understood what they've studied0
