I’m told that The Times are advertising a set of 6 free DVDs from this Saturday - starting with the JFK assassination.

Presumably the first one will be free within the paper, then a voucher each day to redeem at WH Smith until next Friday.

    Days That Shook the World
An amazing DVD collection, free with The Times

In celebration of the launch of The Times Archive, we are giving away six DVDs that explore some of the most momentous events in world history.

On Saturday, June 21, you will find the first DVD inside your copy of The Times. It covers the shocking assassination of President John F Kennedy, and the sensational resignation of President Richard Nixon in the wake of the Watergate scandal.

From Monday, June 23 to Friday 27, you can pick up five more free DVDs, one a day, with The Times at WHSmith.

Monday: The assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and the death of Hitler.

Tuesday: The first flight of the Wright Brothers and the first lunar landing.

Wednesday: The Great Train Robbery and Captain Blood's theft of the Crown Jewels.

Thursday: The discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb and the deciphering of the Rosetta Stone.

Friday: The coronation of Queen Elizabeth II and the death of Diana.

Has anyone else got the BBC: Days That Shook The World set which were given away free with last week's Times newspaper. I watched the GREAT TRAIN ROBBERY / TOWER OF LONDON ROBBERY episode a few nights ago and the sound quality was terrible. It went up and down throughout the entire programme. Has anyone else noticed this or have I just ended up with a faulty disc?

The Daily Mail are doing another set of DVDs starting this Saturday.

The first is "Pride And Prejudice" (not the Keira Knightley movie).
