Calling All Ebay Women !

I have been buying and selling on ebay for over 6 years now and am hooked!
When looking for an item to buy, if I see something I like and it's on buy it now then I will purchase there and then... if it's on auction, then I will stick a 'watch' on it and bid in the last few seconds (I've never really bothered looking at the snipers but the ebay toolbar is good as this has a little pop up that reminds you when an item is finishing).. if it's something I really want, then I will go in and put in a much higher bid with seconds to go to make sure I win the item (although doing that I have lost out on a few things when my internet has been slow to confirm my bid and the auction has finished!)
When selling on ebay, I rarely use buy it now and always tend to list my items so that they will finish early sunday evening... My personal theory is that people tend to browse ebay on weekends (especially on a sunday if the weather is bad and they have nowt else to do!!) and are more likely to return to bid on the auction if it has a few hours to go rather than a few days!
Talking about ending your audtions at a certain time - my theory is that the best time to buy anything is during the afternoon before 5 on a weekday or after midnight and the best time to sell is after 6pm on a weekday ( except Friday ) and never at all during a weekend
- might seem odd when you look at it written down - but I think I must still be in the mindset tat most people work 9-5 and Friday nights and weekends they will be out clubbing ,pubbing etc ( although strangely enough I havnt worked 9-5 for nearly 15 years ! )0 -
Similar to the above -
When buying, I have found that I have to pay more for things ending at the weekends and have competition with more bids for the item.
When grabbing a bargain - day time ending is best 7am-5pm
Selling/listing items ending on a Thurs evening has been good for me especially around the end of the month - pay day yeah for them and me.Quidco £196 - Voucher Codes £408 - GC Saved £603P.A.D. £[strike]4720[/strike] / £4330- Jan GC £375/Spent £283.78~~~~~~~~~~~0 -
I go for both, but tend to use BIN more buying from shops on ebay and bid more if its from an individual seller - clothes especially, good to get a bargain

when i'm selling i almost always use a BIN price in addition to auction as i find having it there either a) encourages people to grab it BIN before it goes or b) gets the others to start bidding early so it doesnt go BIN
I think my best sale ever was a camera flash I bought secondhand on staff price at work for about £50 - the new price was £130. I listed it at £50 start, £105 BIN ... it sold for £190!!! :rotfl:£140 profit on an item I'd used several times, had been used before that, and was still readily available in shops

Good one ! - Ebay`s great when it works like that !! :T0 -
do you prefer the slow rythmic build up of counting the days ,hours ,minutes,REFRESH,seconds,REFRESH until you burst into a frenzied win of a 7/5/3 day auction ?!
Or would you rather the quick thrust and immediate outcume of a BUY IT NOW price that may or may not be less than you would have got it thru auction ?!
I prefer it to be as long drawn out as possible.
It's the anticipation of the outcome. I wait until the last 15-20 seconds before I give them my bid.
Although sometimes you see something you like and you just have to have it there and then!!
Err... are we talking about bidding here?:p :rotfl:Mortgage: Was: £154,495 Oct 2039 Now: £81,279.78 May 2037Swagbucks ~ £205 (2024 ~ £395)Surveys ~ £204.44 (2024 ~ £280.14)Make £2025 in 2025 #5 ~ £1,406.55 ~ (2024 ~ £2,561.04)0 -

"yes ,but are you prepared to wait 3/5/7 days - dont women want instant gratification ?"
Well done to Purple vamp for realising the OP is a perv! Thought I was being over sensitive until I read your post!

I find that it depends on how much I want the item. If I see a piece of clothing that I have been searching for for ages and it's listed as a BIN then, if I can afford it etc, I will buy it at the BIN price.
I do, however, love a good bargain and I love the excitement of the last few minutes at auction. I remember the first time I won something on Ebay. I was dancing around the room and everything. My boyfriend at the time thought I was crazy.lol. I still wear the boots I won. They're my favourite pair.

Thank Goodness for you guys!
Was getting concerned about the filthy depths of my mind as I straight away read the original post as depraved when it first appeared! Was considering myself perverted as everyone else seemed oblivious to the innuendo!Worse things will have happened in the world today..."The only thing that really matters, it to love and to be loved."0
