Could you please tell me how you shop on Ebay ? - do you prefer the slow rythmic build up of counting the days ,hours ,minutes,REFRESH,seconds,REFRESH until you burst into a frenzied win of a 7/5/3 day auction ?!

it all depends on what your buying and when you need it and obviously the price. If i wanted a dress or something to go out in and i was going out in say a weeks time - i'd opt for BIN. However if it was just a top that i would wear to work etc i'd wait till last few seconds of auction and put a bid in

I am addicted to ebay buying and selling. I rarely buy it now there is no fun in that, and have stopped selling with buy it now listings. People lke watching an auction and the fun of bidding. When I want something I like to use goofbay and snipe in the last 2 seconds. Ive won lots of auctions this way.

I don't mind if it's BIN or auction, as long as it's cheap. :p

Thats why the ending time is so crucial on auction style, as you've got to try and work out the best time your captive audience will be on-line so they can bid in the closing minutes and in effect getting the best of both worlds, auction and buy it now.
So basically, a burst of action which is all over in minutes......which always leaves me wanting more!
Never put off until tomorrow what you can avoid doing altogether.:D

I like both, but can get carried away with the price if I'm bidding on something I really really want.

I have been buying and selling on ebay for over 6 years now and am hooked!

When looking for an item to buy, if I see something I like and it's on buy it now then I will purchase there and then... if it's on auction, then I will stick a 'watch' on it and bid in the last few seconds (I've never really bothered looking at the snipers but the ebay toolbar is good as this has a little pop up that reminds you when an item is finishing).. if it's something I really want, then I will go in and put in a much higher bid with seconds to go to make sure I win the item (although doing that I have lost out on a few things when my internet has been slow to confirm my bid and the auction has finished!)

When selling on ebay, I rarely use buy it now and always tend to list my items so that they will finish early sunday evening... My personal theory is that people tend to browse ebay on weekends (especially on a sunday if the weather is bad and they have nowt else to do!!) and are more likely to return to bid on the auction if it has a few hours to go rather than a few days!

Dont sell sports goods ending at the weekend though - the buyers are all out playing or watching sports.

Think before you list and put yourself in the buyers position.

If you are selling something which will attract a lot of interest, you can get more for it on an auction stye listing by starting the bidding low and letting them battle it out in the last few minutes. However you have to balance this with how many other people are selling the same product, and if the bids get above a certain amount are people just going to move on to someone else's listing and try their luck there?

I quite like selling with BIN, so long as your price is still good some buyers seem to like the certainty of knowing that is the price they will pay, and can be one less thing to consider if you are comparing items across different sellers and trying to make a decision to purchase.

I do find it interesting how a few of my BINs have been snapped up in the last minutes, almost as if it was an auction style listing and they were trying for a last minute bargain!

Strange you should say that rdp1980 as I had a BIN purchased last night with less than an hour to run, yet it had been live for 10 days. I had almost added it to the charity shop pile already as it never even had a watcher.

It could have been that somebody was watching it and had half made up their mind to buy it but was waiting till the last minute in case something more attractive came up on BIN that they could buy instead.

Sometimes things sell on day 1 or day 2 of a 10 day BIN and it makes me wonder if I am selling something too cheap.

I guess really it's just a matter of who is looking at what time and whether they happen to spot your item. Reading any more into it than that is likely to make my head hurt!
