Ryanair - beware purchase card fees are being inaccurately shown

No - purchase page fees are false advertising and illegalRyanair have always been a law unto themselves and until consumers say enough is enough they will keep their secret scamming department in full swing. I can Imaging they are meeting now to discuss just how they are going to make their profits back up to what they have been accustomed to in recent years.
In their last meeting they came up with the idea to increase a SINGLE debit/credit card transaction by every passenger included within that ONE SINGLE Transaction and then to add insult to Injury they made it PER SECTOR. How low can you get really.
They will charge us for using the steps up to the plane soon knowing full well that none of us will be able to jump that high although I would give it a go just to spite them. They are not honest or an honorable company and the reason your calls are dropped is because they get more money if you have to ring back. It's all a scam and it's not obvious to spot their website and call centre tricks until youve been stung.
I have a timed screen shot for flights showing a lower total purchase price than the confirmation email displayed. Our consumer rights dictate that this is totally Illegal behaviour and they should be brought to book. I was Informed that they changed the debit card charges on July the 4th but obviously their web pages were screwed up deliberately no doubt because they do love our calls to the help line at at least £1/£2 a time. When will they learn that its not all about being the cheapest con artist on the block. The public deserve some respect and honesty from these not so budget alrlines.0 -
exactly nic_c, the cheap prices will keep them coming, nothing percived about it though they are the cheapest, 5.17 million passengers in june says it all, 19% higher than last june
great service at great prices, i love em, apart from one bad trip, the countless rest have run like clockwork over the last 5 years, no need to ring customer service, no booking errors, no moans
i look at the final price and click yes or leave it alone

No - purchase page fees are false advertising and illegalI had a Ryanair credit card for years so that I could earn free flights until I discovered that paying for a premium rate call, tax and credit card fees made the "free flights" more expensive than booking a flight using an electron card so hunted for an electron card instead. I was able to get one wth my Abbey account after making a few enquiries. In fact it turned out quicker to open a new account to get an electron card than to request one to be issued on an account already in existence. I just keep the account to pay for Ryanair flights.
I have never been able to book a free flight or even a 1p flight to Reus. The best I have done is £10 eachway including taxes.0 -
Why fly Ryanair in the first place....
Now calm down, get the yoga mat out and take some deep breaths.Clearly you cannot read. You certainly cannot tell what pennylane99 saw when they checked.
pennylane99 said that the box stated that when she checked it. I reiterated what they had said. They did not dispute that the box said something different earlier. You are the only one that seems to have a problem with this?
Have you got anything meaningful to add to this thread, or are just having one of your rants?
The OP said that the screen clearly said that the charge would be £1.20, that is a fact as I made a trial booking myself. Pennylane said that instead of accepting what the OP saw on the screen as gospel, they should have clicked on the "view charges" button as well, now why would you do that if it already said it was £1.20 in front of your eyes, oh that's right, because with Ryanair you have to check and double check. BTW as of last night at 12:43pm it still showed £1.20
Yes I am having one of my rants, just like you having one of your defend Ryanair moments.
BTW my reading is quite good, it's my spelling I have to watch around you.The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -

And you are just the kind of customer that benefits from Ryanair, the single business traveler or a couple on short break, great price to get you from A to B, so well done and I can see there is no reason for you to want anything else. As for some of us who usually only use airlines for holidays knowing that there will be luggage involved, (and looking at any check-in desk for a Ryanair flight, that always seems to be about 80% of the people) and the unwary of their tricks, the price structure is squarely aimed at us. So people can bleat on and on all they like about always reading the T&C's with a fine tooth comb, the plain fact is that most don't, and Ryanair know that, and structure their business around that premise.exactly nic_c, the cheap prices will keep them coming, nothing percived about it though they are the cheapest, 5.17 million passengers in june says it all, 19% higher than last june

I can remember the days when you didn't have to read all the fine print, or take screen shots, and I stiil managed to get flights to America for £26 with Peoples Express. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. i expect you are the sort of customer who begrudges paying high fares with other carrriers but isnt getting the great deals that others get with ryanair.
there is no trickery involved, michael o leary has made it quite clear that carrying luggage in the hold will get more and more expensive, most of ryanairs customers are on short breaks, if you choose to carry the kitchen sink with you then you will pay for it.
i think ryanair sting those who dont want to think about anything and blindly wander through the booking process while shouting at the kids at the same time, you end making typos that cost a fortune to put right, pay for insurance you dont need, pay for bags you dont want, pay extra in card fees you didnt need to
i think its more a case of fools and their money are easily parted than sneaky tricks by ryanair, although i admit ryanair are not exactly honest when it comes to the booking process
perhaps families with umpteen bags would be better off walking into a travel agent and leave ryanair alone, because the cheap flights are there if you play by ryanairs rules0 -
Would you really expect Ryanair to be honest in this...As for some of us who usually only use airlines for holidays knowing that there will be luggage involved, (...) and the unwary of their tricks, the price structure is squarely aimed at us. So people can bleat on and on all they like about always reading the T&C's with a fine tooth comb, the plain fact is that most don't, and Ryanair know that, and structure their business around that premise.

Yes, but if you don't like how Ryanair operate their booking structure, etc, then the answer is easy, don't use them! I was annoyed the time I paid £10 more for a system "glitch", but even the higher price was cheaper than I could get elsewhere at the time. Again I paid more this time because I dallied, but I take it all on-board, because its still a cheapish price.
With other airlines, you don't have to read all this small print, and indeed you can get a better service with other airlines - When my Ryanair flight was delayed several hours I was left to my own devices, but when my KLM flight was delayed the same year, they gave me coupons for meals and ended up arranging for a hotel at no financial cost to me.
What matters more to you, the PRICE or the SERVICE. If its a family holiday with kids, then it should be the latter, which probably means avoiding Ryanair. It is sometimes possible to get similar prices elsewhere. Unfortunately people want a dirt cheap Ryanair price but expect a premium airline service.
Ryanair do seem to have a whole draft of add-on that can bump up the price, so you need to carefully check everything at each stage and definitely before clicking the final pay button. Obviously the OP never did this - having seen a pop-up earlier in the booking process, took the assumption at the final step. Ryanair will say its the price at this final step that matters.
If you go into a shop and see a price ticket for an item, but then get charged a higher amount by the checkout, you'll query it - many shops will honour the ticket price you saw, but not all. Ryanair is clearly one of those that doesn't.0 -
No - purchase page fees are false advertising and illegalI thought Ryanair had been forced to include taxes in their quoted prices? Have just searched flights that came up at around £100. Then went to next screen and they were 40% more expensive once they have added taxes etc on top. :mad:0

There is a big note at the top of the screen saying that they are currently having system problems and the full prices are not showing.Gone ... or have I?0 -
