Ryanair - beware purchase card fees are being inaccurately shown

No - purchase page fees are false advertising and illegalThat is a positive way to look at it, looks like you got the last tickets at that pricing level.
I'm sorry that you didn't take screenshots as, although I am a regular (and very happy) Ryanair passenger, I don't agree with any company that tries to avoid their legal responsibilities.
It is also sad that we have to think about taking screenshots when making online transactions, I've just been stung a few too many times (stupid Toys r Us) so now err on the side of caution! x
You are absolutely right to say that it is sad to have to think about taking screenshots, but I will certainly be more vigilant in the future. Many thanks for your sensible comments and support. x0 -
I was charged the credit card fee when using a debit card earlier in the year but never got any response to my complaint. I didn't pressit because the flights were actually free but I would love to see more upfront charges from Ryanair. I accept that whether you take luggage or not is a personal choice but paying isn't so the debit card fee t least should be included. I don't fall for this electron card stuff either - has anyone tried getting an electron card recently?0

No - purchase page fees are false advertising and illegalseems like ryanair were getting a lot of phone calls about the card charges on friday. I was booking flights on friday past from bfs-lpool and it kept on saying page cannot be displayed etc. finally got through to the booking page entered card details etc confirmed that i was happy to pay the £4 booking fee in total then the next page displayed that there had been an error and the booking wasnt made by that stage i was fed up and decided to book flights with another airline, 5 mins after i had booked with someone else a ryanair email came through confirming flights
I have screenprints showing that the booking wasnt made but ryanair wont accept any of my claims and after 5 phonecalls and 40 mins later i decided to give up and loose my £240 -

no PennyLane, I did open that popup (as mentioned in the original post) & there it quoted the price as £1.20 per sector for Maestro, that is why I am so annoyedpennylane99 wrote: »next to the box where you input your payment credit/debit card details it says "click to view fee charges"...
a box pops up telling you the fee is £4 each sector, or free if using Electron.0 -
I book an average of 3 return flights a month with ryanair. I used to pay with a VISA electron card until it was pulled by BARCLAYS and replaced with a CONNECT card. Saw the increase in charges today and have immediately applied for a HALIFAX easy access account (the most basic), it supplies an VISA ELECTRON card. £8 DEBIT CARD CHARGE for a return flight, and he uses the word 'defray' to justify it.0

I am very disappointed RA are now charging £4 per journey a whacking £32 added to the bill. Halifax first thing tomorrow to get an Electron card. Its all a game of swings and roundabouts. I looked at flights last week but did not book, now this week £20 off a return journey but double to use the card!SallyD0

Why fly Ryanair in the first place....
No, the screen showed £1.20.:rolleyes:Or maybe they were just stating what the screen showed when they checked?
I don't buy this electron stuff either. How many people actually have one of these? It seems only the ones on here that stand on higher pedestals than most of us pontificating on how it only costs them 1p to fly to some back of beyond place because they travel with a pair of socks and one set of skiddies for a 2 week holiday, while the truth is that most of us going away need to pack more than can be stuffed into a paper bag.
Ryanair have to have a loss leader card so they can use the headline prices as advertising, and as this thing is a rare as rocking horse do-do,( blo**y h**, this is a card meant for students with bad credit!!) they know that there is not many people that will use it. They could have easily picked the Maestro card, they don't get charged anything to process that, but of course most people have one and they know that it will be the card of choice to book with, so hey presto, whack a hefty charge on it.The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -

Clearly you cannot read. You certainly cannot tell what pennylane99 saw when they checked.
pennylane99 said that the box stated that when she checked it. I reiterated what they had said. They did not dispute that the box said something different earlier. You are the only one that seems to have a problem with this?
Have you got anything meaningful to add to this thread, or are just having one of your rants?Gone ... or have I?0 -
Would you really expect Ryanair to be honest in this...Wow, guess I just got in in time. I meant to book some flights at the end of June, but didn't get round to it until 3rd July, by the time one leg had gone up a tenner, so decided to book rather than wait. Glad I did as I was just charged the old card fee.
The reason I say not waiting is because before I've had similar problems - looked at a flight, gone to book a few hours later by which time its gone up, booked, then the next day found the flights had gone back down again! Didn't get any response from a complaint to Ryanair.
I guess their philosophy is "we don't need customer service as 'perceived' cheap prices will keep them coming"0
