Lloyds are maddening. Informed them day after BR. Calls finally petered out after three weeks and a particularly annoying call in which I was told off for being cynical (!) for asking why I should repeat the details of the court I went bankrupt in when the call-centre chappy had just quoted the date I went bankrupt to me and obviously had the information. This morning, a whole month after BR, I get a letter from them - addressed to our old house - thanking me for the token payment I'd sent them, together with change of address notification, at the beginning of May!!! The letter went on to say they'd credited my account with that money. Hmmn. Since the bank account I wrote the cheque from is now closed, I can't imagine that will work too well.0

Update again.........
Well after feeling ashamed for a while and going through lots of different feelings i decided it was time to tell my parents and a few of my close friends. My parents were surprisingly ok about it and i think my Mum was relieved although i never mentioned how much debt i had got myself into. My friends were equally supportive and as it turned out most of them were not having an easy ride financially and it made me feel better that i could help if in no other way then to point them to the charities with there questions.
Its also been a roller coaster week. Monday i had to take one of my vehicles the car for an MOT well when i went to pick it up basically its a disaster and needed about £300 spent on it to get it through the MOT and i just dont have the money so i thought right it will have to go but as i know the OR still had an interest in the car and van i thought i best call. The OR was great said that he was about to write to me as they had concluded that they had no interest in the Van and would be writing to let me know so that was a big relief as it mean i get to keep my job even though its only part-time but then said that they wanted to car. I explained to them about the MOT and that i guess that maybe i could put it on ebay as spares and repairs or just scrap it and asked what he would like me to do.
He said that they would pick it up and deal with it from here on in so now just waiting for that to happen. I pointed out that it did have 6 months tax on it that they could you and he said that i could keep that and send it off to DVLA for a refund as he said he was sure that i could do with that little bit of cash at the moment. I was shocked how well i have been treated and with such professionals in the way they work.
I think i have been really lucky to have been treated so well which i must admit i did not feel i deserved but i so thanksful that i get to keep the van and the main thing my job.:cheesy: K2nga :cheesy:

Hi k2nga, I am so pleased it all went so smoothly for you!! I am taking baby steps towards BK myself and I am so worried about the ifs and buts. Thanks for your post. Just an idea - how about changing your telephone number? I have done and my life has improved just from not being spoke to horribly.

I just wanted to say I'm glad you get to keep the van and the feelings of being ashamed do pass. I'm 10 weeks into the BR and I have found that the feeling ashamed and embarassed have started to ease up and life in general is starting to feel much easier and simple.
Take care

latest update:
Well today the car went. I thought i would be sad but as i was able to keep my van and of course with my job i was just glad to see the back of it. The guy that came could not have been nicer and i mean that he was really caring and made the transaction really easy but joked that after doing this for 10 years he was very used to it now. Anyway when i fill out my performance for the OR i will let them know that the guy was great.
I also had a letter from Eversheds today telling me that GE had sold them the debt and that they would be going to my OR and then said that they would not contact me again my question is why contact me in the first place.:cheesy: K2nga :cheesy:

hi all,
had to post as i went br over 7 years ago now, old rules though br for 3 years then auto discharge. i can honestly say it was painless. never went to court it all happened without us there. we own our own house (well halifax do!!) but we were allowed to pay the beneficial intrest to the OR over 3 years (12,000) , got letter then to say he was no longer intrested in it and we could do what we wanted with it. which was really good as its worth 3 times more now.
it has been hard but if we wanted anythin we saved for it, we were able to go out on a weekend sometihin we hadnt done for over 6 years.
and now im trying to build my credit score up to something decent.
but just a warning about eversheds keep your eye on your credit file they placed two defaults on mine last year 6 years after BR, the company who bought the debts were max recovery but eversheds do thier admin as they are from USA. it has taken ages to get them removed as they were false and illegal entrys.
and secondly i had a travel company hounding me for weeks as we were told we couldnt go on our booked holiday so had to cancel and include it in BR. i sent thier rep off on a chase as she said and i quote" i dont care if you are BR, you owe the money and you have to pay it" i politely replied my dear im sorry but if i pay you i could be arrested and thrown in jail!!! she was appauled by this and said she would contact thier legal team, i replied that would be a very good idea and im sure they will confirm what i have just spent the last 45 minutes telling you.
she rang me back couple of hours later, and appologised to me saying i was correct and she had no knowledge of BR so thought it was wrong. it was very nice of her to ring back i thought
waffle over
good luck on your new life to all who are BR and those in the process, and i add its nothin to be ashamed of its the last resort for those of us with no way out, there are far worse things in this life happening and br isnt one of them!! x:Tself confessed 80's throwback:D
