i thought i would give a quick update.

I have a few phone calls last week mainly the companies not believing that i was BR even after i gave them all the court info.

Anyway i had my first letter today from one of the banks to inform me that they have been informed of my BR and that my account will be closed as that account is not offered to Un-discharged BR's. Charmin...........he he

Another letter yesterday morning infact from the company i have had the most hassle with but actually owed the less money. I was going to put there name on here but im not sure if i am allowed to so i wont. It was a default notice. I must admit i have not seen one before. The way it was written was really bad and obviously normally set out for them chasing you to get there money say i have broken this clause and this clause through going BR and that they are going to the OR. It has a really nasty undertone to it which i guess you should expect.

Me i have just put it my recycling bin as part of my old life.

I have to admit im sure if you are supposed to keep these things and the OR has never said anything about letting them have these things and i dont want them as they are part of the old me the debt me. Seems like my recycle bin might be busy.

    Debt_23,

I was just the same i had always had high powered jobs in the past until being made redundant and always thought i could control my debt but when life went bad i quickly realised that i couldnt. So then you feel like a failure for not being in control but i think what you have to recognise is once you get into the debt spiral you need to really win the lottery in order to get out of it.

Once you get past that date you feel like you can live again and have a life back. I do get annoyed with the rudeness of the banks and i used to feel bad as i was not paying back what i borrowed but this credit crunch was bought on by the banks and the next 12months the country is really down to them being greedy.

To be honest in a strange way i enjoyed court. Others that were sat i think felt like they had to sit there sullen but why should you i dont think anyone goes out to go BR it just a change that happens and then your in it unable to get out.

I know i shouldnt feel bad..
I has been 4 years since i had any Surplus income each month where i have been able to go to the shop with cash just to buy something. i forgot what its like ... to think 4 years i have just been struggling i should of gone BR then. :(
But im definatly upbeat with my future after BR , i have learned alot about money and debt.. not something i want to get into again.

    Thank you all. x
I love this site i do.
wouldnt be going BR if it wasnt from the kind words and good advice from here.

lol i sound drunk... im not honest im just getting ready or i should be getting ready for my sisters wedding this afternoon i sure will enjoy it alot more. even just being booked in for BR in 3 weeks gives me new confidence in a wierd way.. knowing that soon all this wil be over and no more stress.

I shall have a drink or two for you all

You say that you should have gone BR 4 years ago, which was the last time you had any surplus income.....but (and please don't shoot me down in flames for suggesting this, and I am not suggesting you should not go BR now) would you have learned your lesson 4 years ago?

The sentence I have highlighted in bold from your post is the most valuable one ever - you have learned how to manage money over those 4 years. Yes, it has been hard, yes, you could have gone BR earlier, but you can now go forward with the confidence that you won't be going "back there" IYSWIM.

Maybe 4 years ago, you weren't "ready" for that next step, and had you proceeded then, you may have found yourself back in difficulty through not having struggled and learning the hard way.

Enjoy the wedding this afternoon, and good luck for the future.
