But possibly the most important most significant post of 2008 is here. I've been so close to suggesting it's the combination of omega 6 with carbs that the problem. I've hedged around it with suggestions to correct omega 3 <> omega 6 ratios.
I've had a gut instinct telling me that the problem is high omega 6<> high carb intake the problem but I'd not quite worked out why although I suspect it's the pro Inflammatory /anti inflammatory balance that matters.
But Stephan has come up with a credible thesis. My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

ooh and i just realised i got a notification of this post Yaaayy its working again lol
succumbed to the old flu here, i have studiously avoided it til now, still going to the gym tho on a kill or cure basis lol

i agree they dont interest me much either now..last time i had pasta i felt sick it was so odd...lol
but am a sucker for a yorkshire pud and pastry still....
shall probably just try and limit the damage over xmas by avoiding carbs unless it's something i REALLY fancy but i'm not going to turn my nose up at a home made mince pie at granny's!
tink..you are a marvel!
have preordered the diet delusion from amazon..not exactly money saving i know but i did manage to stick it on hubby's credit card instead of mine...lmao!!:TCredit Card debt £10247.17 1/1/20200 -

I'm quite interested in starting Atkins soon, after the Christmas period because it's not the same without roast spuds!
I've done the Cambridge diet before, which puts you into Ketosis, which was great but not eating is hell and back.
I've got a few Q's, if no-one minds answering them for me.
Can you still have veg? Diet coke?
I'm not too bothered about fruit because I don't have a sweet tooth, but I looooove steak (and chips, but would forgo the chips!)
Is it possible to calorie count AND do atkins, I don't fancy eating my own weight in double cream!
I think I have an intolerance to carbs, as soon as I eat rice/pasta especially, I either throw up (not purposely!!!) or end up with serious loo troubles.0 -

please please please buy a book and read it. it's important that you know the rules, and why they are there
the low carb diet i follow doesn't allow diet coke, full stop. it's disgusting stuff anyway and has no benefits (and i used to be addicted)
veg should form the bulk of your food, but not all veg is allowed. that's why buying a book is (in my opinion) essential. you can make yourself very ill if you don't know what you are doing.Buttonmoons wrote: »I'm not too bothered about fruit because I don't have a sweet tooth, but I looooove steak (and chips, but would forgo the chips!)

not really. you should only measure one thing really. and no-one says you must eat your own weight in double cream! but eating fat is very important (as are supplements)
please don't make the mistake of thinking that it's all about meat and veg.0 -
button nice to meet you, i agree with tink u should really buy the book and acquaint yourself with the rules otherwise u could unknowingly be doing the wrong thing, there is LOADS of info on the net tho
having said that a rough guide for the first 2 weeks of induction is u can eat freely or protein (fish, meat, eggs etc) add to that 2 cups of salad and 1 cup of veg from the allowable list (u can find this anywhere on the net google atkins induction allowaable veg)... u dont eat your weight in cream in fact u should limit it to 3 tablespoons a day.... dont worry about calories worry about carbs!!
as far a diet coke is concerned well lots of people still drink it (i hate it now and i used to be addicted to it like tink lol)... the problem is that if u keep eating sweet stuff u are not gonna rid yourself of your addiction so if u can do without it try to
hope that answers some of your questions but feel free to ask more as theres lots of people on here with loads of info and suggestions
