I wanted to know if i could afford to work....i have a 19 year old sister living with me unemployed not on any benefits and a 17 month old daughter and a husband we live in three bedroom house .....i wanted to know if my husband works full time can i work like part time and get help with child care .....or will i still get help with houseing benfits and council tax ?
say when he gets a job his pay is like 180 a week and i work just 16 hours can i get help with childcare or houseing benfits ?
Nobody can tell you if you will get any housing or council tax benefit when you work as that will depend on your total income, I would say though that you would have a slim chance, but having 2 incomes and maybe a bit of working tax credit and child tax credit plus child benefit should keep your head above water. You need to sort out your husband's visa but there is no reason why he cant look after the baby whilst you go out to work, as for your sister who is supporting her and does JSA and housing benefit know she is staying with you ? sounds like you are carrying the weight of running the household on your own when it shouldn't be like that.
