What an informative and scary thread

I'm just about to buy an annual policy from ProtectyourBubble of whom I've never heard?

I see they are underwritten by Eurpo assistance so hopefully that's a small crumb of comfort.
    Though it does say
and fulfilled by Rock Insurance Services Limited
so I'm slightly confused as to who I'm with

Not going to Florida either :D

Europ Assistance are the Insurer (They will be authorised by the FSA to be an Insurer), they are actually a fairly decent Insurer.

Rock Insurance Services are in effect a broker who will have a scheme with Europ Assistance and run the website.

You can check whether a company is registered and regulated by the FSA by visiting their website http://www.fsa.gov.uk/Pages/register/

Yes it is intentional, if you look through it there is a post from Leigh-Anne on the 10/04/2009 (She works for First Assist) that she subsequently deleted (I assume First Assist asked her to delete it when they realised it could prejudice them when dealing with some claims). You might find it helpful

No need now. As of one hour ago Customer relations have overturned the original decision and will now meet the claim in full! :j:j:j

It was related to the fact that Florida's medical charges seem to be very high!

I've been to Florida a few times ( and only once to Orlando ).

blindman - not just Florida, the USA is acknowledged widely as the most expensive med bills. It's not that bad if you know what to do - even if you do not have insurance - most hospitals will give a big discount to pay on discharge (up to 50% for our hospitals) and there's further discounts available from our particular hospital (as long as you meet the conditions) your hospital bill can be reduced to $100.00 (if the original is under $1,000.00) or to $200.00 (if original over $1,000.00).

    UPDATE - BEWARE!

    WHITE HORSE INSURANCE IRELAND LTD.
    P.O. Box 178
    Breadford
    BD11 2WS

please bear this in mind if you are thinking of taking out a policy with this company. There is very little help that you can get if you have the need to complain. This company is based in Dublin (I assume their Bradford PO Box is a forwarding address) and with my experiences with them they are totally useless (cannot even see that a bill for £5,000.00 is not the same bill as one for £956.00! ! ! let alone cannot see the difference in the name of the companies sending them bills).

This company I have now found out are NOT registered or regulated by the Financial Services Authority and therefore you have little recourse in the event of a complain or dissagreement. They are registered with The Irish version of the FSA but it don't help if you are in the UK.

Please beware - you could buy the policy and then end up paying all you medical bills - just like my customer this morning ($12,000.00)

Hi, I was directed to your thread by another forum member who posted on my thread. I recently had dealing with White Horse LTD and it all proved extremely tricky. For details of my troubles just check for threads started by me - I've only started one so far.

I have since, with great effort managed to get the full amount of money out of them.

I strongly recommend you do not have travel insurance with these people as their T&C are unfair and unrealistic with loophole after loophole for them. You're pretty much not covered for anything.

The reason we ended up with White horse is that it came bundled in with the holiday that my parents bought through Going Places. If you are planning on booking with Going Places, I strongly recommend you double-check which firm their insurance is with and if it's with the criminals at White Horse Ireland LTD, then please, please, please make the effort to find your own.

I personally use Asda Insurance which is provided by Norwich Union...I presume they are pretty reputable but I haven't need to make a claim as yet so I can't be certain of their transparency in claiming.

hope you didn't mind me mentioning this.

it will defiantly affect re-entry as would not paying a speeding fine, they are inclined to not let you in even if you offer to pay

Thanks for this excellent, helpful thread, F H Brit. DS lives in beautiful Tampa and we love Florida.

This year we have taken a HSBC Plus Account which gives us travel insurance - to my surprise, as OH has diabetes 22 and hypertension. These were both accepted for cover, but I don't have anything in writing.
Have you had any experience of this policy, covered by Norwich?

I am so cautious, I even told them about my tinnitus!
