Strong, sorry for the delay, have been moving house into our own place so things have been really hectic. Here are the rules and regs, with many thanks to Renovatio!
    The overacrching reference is:
    JSP 754
    Chapter 9
Section 6 "Contributions in leiu of council tax"
Para 09.0608 lists the eligibility for discounts.

At first glance the rules laid down here would preclude most disabled spouses from receiving the 25% discount, however the application form:

JS Form JPA E003 - Claim for Council Tax 25% Single Householder Discount, does list an additional box on the bottom, "Disabled spouse (as defined by Single Service Regulations)".

My pay office was unable to help with substantiating where this definition is listed and the form offers no references , however i have now eventually found it:j:

PAM Part 2 - Regular Army Administrative Procedures (V3.0) Army Code 63791
    Chapter 5 - Pay Documentation
Section 7 - Refunds / Rebates and Compensation
Para 02.05311 Disabled Spouse. "A disabled spouse is one who is in receipt of a disability allowance, or able to prove his/her incapacity to work for 28 weeks."
    LBM - August 2008 - Debts then - £33390 - 2nd LBM - November 2009 - Debts then - £18500:mad:
    Current debt levels: OD £3860, Loan 1 £6091, Loan 2 £5052, Parents £260, Total £16133  As at 01 May 2012 - 51.69% paid off :j

The problem with the Claim system is that people do not really Know what they are entitled too, With unhelpful Admin Staff (at my present location) doesn't really do much to make people want to claim.

1 quick example, I have just put in a claim for a AT exped Overseas on which i was an instructor.

I have been told you can't now claim for this but you can claim for that.
You must pay me back the £100 put in a new claim then we'll give you £110,

I'm not really bothered about the extra tenner but must I really repay the 100 or is there a way to sort out the paper work.

Lee - go and see Jason Green (your FSA) and he will help you out!! We HR admins do have a lot on but Jas (who i have known since he was in the RRW!!!) is a good lad.

Could someone offer a little advice on this one please? In Feb last year we filled out 2 sets of forms JPA E003 for the 25% CILOCT discount, to be backdated to 2001 when we first moved into quarters. I've been on disability allowance since 1996 and was told by the FSA that this was not a problem and we would get it all paid to us by May.

The problem we are having is now the regt are saying they have arranged for us to get £800 to cover the time we were with that regt but we are not entitled to the rest.

We have been trying to sort it all out as we have previously been told by the same person that we are entitled to this, but OH is no longer serving. Should we keep fighting it to get the rest of the money as it is around £2000? That is a heck of a lot to us as it would seriously help us out right now.

My question is - how do we go about chasing up the rest of the rebate as the unit don't want to deal with anything we send them, and the poor souls at JPAC never have a clue when OH phones them.

I know of a similar claim that was processed by the current unit for backdated payments that covered 3 other units. It takes them a bit of work to do it as a manual transaction and it needs to be staffed through the Bde pay folk; your unit pay staff are just being lazy:mad:

I travel to work every day about a 40 mile round trip, i get the home to duty thing. What i am wondering is, am i entitled to a days leave to have my car MOT'd??? and a day to get it serviced?? its just that a long time ago this was mentioned on the ARRSE site but i cannot find the thread or even the conclusion.

I dont want to take my own leave to sort out time off to get my car done, if there is such time off can people post the reference so i can quote this to my boss.

Also does the MOD pay fo eyesight testing and will they make a contribution to glasses if you use a monitor all day?
Wins so Far: 21" lcd monitor, 6 day all expenses paid holiday to China, 8800GTX gfx card, 2x Panasonic cameras, 12 cups and Loads of Twix's, Coffee Lovers Hamper - Wild bean cafe. TomTom (upto value of £200) Aviva Car Insurance

    s30jok,

Eye tests are paid for by the MOD, have an eye test then file the claim through JPA, think its misc claims or so. Though, recently i noticed Tesco were providing free eye tests.

As to glasses, well the MOD will provide you with some, as your S10 respirator lenses.

Tesco do some nice glasses pretty cheap, made elsewhere and sent to the store for you.

As to the car mot / leave thing. I think this will be rejected as they say 'you have choosen to live 20mile away, get a room in the block'..

    That old chestnut..
  • My Dh is currently on a 17 week course he is aware that he can claim IE for 30 days but is there anything else he can claim he is traveling back most weekends 200 mile round trip i know he wont get travel expenses but seing the course is so long is there anything else he can claim

    thanks natale
