My friend also got the V547. I think it is a much better phone. I said I would swap if he wants as he advertised his on Ebay and sold it last night, even though he didn't have a phone to sell.

Mandles the answer is NO, you only spend what is to your needs.
It is a Pay as you go sim, you put in what you want, the £10 is a carrot to get you to spend more by giving freebies. You can pay £10 as a 0ne-off anytime if you want the texts etc.

It's up to you.

Finally got my 2 yesterday!!! 5 days for next day delivery - what a joke!
Did get a charger included and a proper V220 booklet and the phones are as new and will be fine for us. This morning we had another delivery of 2 more chargers!! So we now have 3 which is good as a backup.

Checked DHL site yesterday using GM- reference number and it said despatched. Phone was there when I got home last night. Nice postman brought charger this morning. My son went into sea with Nokia 2650 in his swimming trunks pocket so has been without a phone... he's absolutely ecstatic now though with V220 so many thanks to OP.

Ohhh...you guys dont want to believe this :

received my phone just 5 minutes back...opened it, checked it....here is what there is in the box :

1. MOTOROLA V547......(....NOT V220.....)
2. A CHARGER
3. A MANUAL FOR V547

But...the papaer work says motorola V220. I did check the specs and pictures of the V220 & V547 on moto website and its confirmed that they have sent me a V547 & NOT v220...

let me try and see if its sim free/unlocked..i doubt..will check now...

OMG, can't believe it. My friend has sold the V220 on Ebay for £50 and has said he will swap with me.

Anybody who received the V547, what condition is it in? Like new?
