I was going to steer clear of this offer, but couldn't resist just checking it out as I was in town, and we did need wine for the weekend. I did spy a large chicken for £8.82, so I couldn't let that go! Managed to control myself and only got one 'Dine for £10' and a further 5 bottles of plonk, so I got my 10% off wine as well.

I too got a large chicken for £8.82 as part of the £10 meal deal. (It wasn't stickered- I did ask and all the same type of chickens go through on this offer whether medium or large). I did this twice and have frozen the chickens for when we have a larger gathering to eat them. I didn't think to get an extra 4 bottles of wine to get the 10% off though! Duh.

I got a large chicken (£10.05), chocolate fudge cake (£2.50), carrots (£2.50) and wine (£4.50). They had lots of chickens around the £8-9 mark I was really surprised!

The rest of the sale was rubbish. Hardly any decent looking clothes.

I hope this deal continues although as people have pointed out M&S is busier in the run up to Christmas so might not need to tempt customers in. Now I've just got my £5 voucher from Direct Line I'm half way to another weekend deal! If you check the M&S website on a Thursday morning. Under "Your M&S" click "Food and Drink" and if the offer is on click on the "Dine for £10" logo for a list of dishes included. This is a lot easier than OH calling me from the foodhall! We got a large chicken that would easily feed 4, wine that was normally £6.99 along with roast potatoes and a dessert that would do 4. A couple of pounds extra spent (somewhere cheaper) on vegetables to pad it out and you have lunch for 4 for £10. M&S is excellent quality and some things aren't as expensive as you think, certainly no more than supermarket premium lines. They never used to have offers but I always pop in now to see what deals are on, especially if they will keep or can be frozen.

Just got this with my £5 Direct Line voucher!

Meal for 2 for £5, not bad! Sadly went for the 2 chicken breasts, even though the whole chicken would have been better value, but the Pinot Grigio we got was labelled at around £6.50, and the desert around £4, so yayy

bought a huge chicken for just under a tenner....bizarrely managed to nab the last pudding on the shelf when there were loads of main meals left (passion friut and jelly terrine, looks yummy), and also picked the mixed veg (only red cabbage left too) and then the pinot grigio.....£10 instead of £21.78, what a bargain!!!

A good point has been made that you should check the shelves if chickens (for example) are gone. All medium and large Oakham chickens will go through the tills as part of the meal deal as will all other items which are part of the deal. That includes wine too.

I went into my local M & S today, they had no white wine and no desserts! I asked if I could have a different bottle of wine (cheaper than the one advertised) but the assistant was quite rude and snatched the wine off me and said to go back tomorrow!

I only went in for a Birthday Cake and spotted the deal. I got roast potatoes, a huge chicken, chocolate fudge pudding and a £5 voucher as they'd run out of wine. Even better they took a fiver off the cost of my cake :-)

The assistant should have explained that only the bar codes on the deal items will work through the tills and give the discount.
