I won a boat....

...a big one. Anybody remember this?

Well I pleased to say I won it! Although without the help of this forum- I regularly buy the Daily Mail and collected the passwords from the paper itself. The only reason I'm on this forum at all is that a 'password sharing' thread came up when I Googled "Daily Mail Dream Boat Competion".
This brings me on to something interesting the competition organisers told me. The Daily Mail Dream Boat competion was the first- and probably the last big competion they would do with online entry. The organisers were well aware of the various 'password sharing' web sites. Clearly this wasn't helping newspaper sales!
Also there were far fewer entries in the boat competition (about 100,000) compared to the last Daily Dream Cottage competition which pulled in over a million postal entries- all of whom must have bought the newspaper for weeks.
The final winner for the Dream Boat competion was selected by senior newspaper staff from a bag of 20 postal entries mixed with 20 web entries.
The whole experience has proved, to me at least, that these big competions can be won fairly & squarely by ordinary folk and that no 'fixing' is involved.
A picture of me on collection day!
