Nope, I have no affiliation with Currys whatsoever. In fact I'm of the 'don't buy useless overpriced rubbish you don't need in the first place' school of thought. I was merely offering my opinion, but I apologise if the only replies you wanted were those agreeing with you that Currys should give back money you gave them in the first place. I'll leave you to it, as I'm not out to create enemies (honestly) I just happen to disagree with you and find the way most people go on about 'consumer rights' really annoying.

Shake hands and make up? :)

I am all for constructive critisism light is fading, and I do not expect everyone to agree with me, I was merely asking if anyone thought I had any chance of me getting the cash back. We went in there with every intention of paying the £90 for the item, but when it is advertised at a lower price, I just happen to think that you should pay that price. Your posts looked like a personal attack, but we will shake hands if that wasn't your intention. I do agree with you on the overpriced bit, I would never part with £90 for something like that, a gillette razor will do me fine!! But that's teenagers for you, they know it all!! Still waiting on the verdict from Currys so we'll see what they say.

Currys have upheld the managers decision. the customer services rep suggested that I write in as I am not happy with the outcome. He also said that I should compare the prices with other places (boots is not a place they compare with:mad: ) Letter is written and ready to go. I don't hold out much hope though. Thanks all for your thoughts and opinions.
  • I went to Currys to buy some MP3 players a few weeks ago. The ones I wanted were nxt to a sign saying £10 off but then scanned at the full price. The manager charged me the lower amount saying that it was his fault that the price was marked wrongly and he then removed the signs. Must be at the manager's discretion and you got one who wouldn't budge.

When i was in toys r us last the item i wanted have a huge sign saying £29.99 but scanned at £59.99 them manager said she couldnt sell it to me and told a staff member to remove the sign and the toys off the shop floor.

I emailed HO saying i thought most shops give it to you if they have made a mistake and how dissappointed i was etc and the manager rang 2 days later and i got to buy it at £29.99.:j

hiya normally stores do offer to match the price but indeed it is true they dont have to if you are really not happy why don't you take it back for a refund and take your buisness somewhere else you have it now. and your daughter does not seem fussed by all this and it is her money that paid for it so why is it up to you to sort out or get involved the contract of purchase is not with you it is with your daughter so they probarly wont listen to you anyway.

I know what you mean, I just get hacked off by things like this. We discussed this last night and she is pretty annoyed with herself and wishes she wouldn't have been so hasty. To a certain degree, I have to let her make her own choices but I also don't want her to make the same mistakes with money that I have. She's not that streetwise and likes me to do this sort of thing for her (yes, she is spoilt).:o Maybe once I have sent the letter in they will give a refund of the £30. She has used the shaver now so it can't be returned.

It'll also be dependant on how much a percentage of the price the error is. Ie if £10 was 10% of the price, they might be able to do it within staff /managers discretion guidelines, whereas if it was 30% of the price probably not.

I just don't have any luck. Probably this manager had a busload of Highland dancers (chancers) coming into him all day noticing the pricing errors in his store and getting their goods for 1/2 price or something!! Then we turned up and got short shrift:D. I think that light is fading is correct here, it will be down to the managers discretion up to a certain point and then it would go to head office. I do feel very strongly about it, I might even write to the managing director of Currys if I don't get anywhere after this, especially after what Rotherham lass has told us.

You did know that the shaver was for £89.99 after all, it was on the internet site for that price. However, I think if that manager was a bit nicer he would have given it to you for that price, after all, even if human error he should have let you buy it for £59.99 as a goodwill gesture. It wasn't your fault it was mispriced!
