I tend to get stressed about it quite abit.:o

It's understandable, but try to keep it in perspective and not allow it to get the better of you - if possible. :) I'm sure you, like most people, are doing the best that you can afterall.

If you need an excuse NOT to do ironing, then I'm sure you've received/read the poem about your children growing up and then having all the time to do these mundane tasks! ;)

If you don't currently do 'hand ironing', give it a try and see if you can simply reduce the amount of items you actually iron. Good luck xx

I don't iron anything. or own a tumble dryer. everything is dried on the line outside or on an airer inside. most important thing is hanging things up immediately, so shirts and t shirts etc. go on hangers as soon as they come off the line.

i needed an iron to do some curtain hemming and having moved 8 months before couldn't find it anywhere:rotfl:

Anyway thank you again guys and wouldn't have been able to do it without you. Kal25

I'm on a roll now LOL I have been lurking for years and have decided to bite the bullet and join in
We are a family of 5 and my ironing is totally out of control,I just can't keep up with it!I do 2 washes a day but when I dry it I tend to just chuck it in the pile! Without ironing every day I can I organise it?
    Thank you SS

If I'm working, I save up ironing for Sunday morning. If at home, I try and iron as it comes off the line so that clothese are washed, dried and put away same day.

There are six of us but two eldest sons do their own ironing most of the time. Oh yes, I have a steam generator iron which has transformed my ironing habits. It's so much quicker and more efficient that I iron more in less time.

  • I take care pegging things out and then folding them when bringing them off the line - this helps to reduce creasing.

TBH I think life is too short to spend hours standing with a lump of hot metal in your hand smoothing creases out of material:D

Take care pegging out, don't dump things in a pile but fold carefully and then place the 'piles' in the airing cupboard for a day before putting away.

I find this tends to make things relatively crease free, and if there are a few minor creases left on things such as t-shirts 'body heat' soon removes them when they're worn.

    I don't iron unless it's absolutely necessary.

Tell me how you organise your ironing

In big piles, staring accusingly at me - just like you!

I always intend to do it as it comes out of the machine, and when I manage to do this, a load takes about 20mins, but I end up doing about 3 hours worth every couple of weeks.

When there is a reasonable amount, i tell my dp and he gets the ironing board out and gets it done in no time at all.

One of the benefits of living with someone with mild ocd i guess......;)
