Hi WAL,

I think you need to put BR on the back burner for now, the priority is to get you and your children housed. Don't hold back when you contact the council, it's not only the repossession now, your marriage is failing and you need to get you and the kids out of that house, away from your OH.

I know you said you only have £500 but if you leave your OH you will be able to claim benefits and tax credits.

If your OH wants to stay in the house until they drag him out by his sorry @rse so be it.

This SHELTER home assesssment should tell you the situation with regards to your local council rehousing you and the children.

They also give an advice line number to help anyone in your situation:

Hey WOL, weekends always seem to be tough - maybe because there is so little constructive stuff we can do. As long as you have a list of the things you need to do tomorrow, just relax as much as you can. Making a plan for handling your future means you are taking a major step in the right direction. :grouphug:

If I managed to get into a private rental property, would I be entitled to HB or tax credits or both?

Anyone know where I can find such information regarding help? I work part time earning £520 a month, the rentals around here are at least £750

I know merry, but driving home from work today, I just thought "I am sick of being unhappy and worried all the time"

I look absolutely awful, the spark has gone, there is no light on behind my eyes, I'm tired, unhappy, emotional and there seems to be no end to it.

Everytime, I think, "OK, that's the right road", something stops it and I have to start again, I can't do it anymore

Honey, believe me, I have been where you are and not so long ago. All I can say is when you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot in it and hang on. You will get through this, for your kids and for yourself. Sometimes taking that next step feels like the one thing you don't have the energy left to do, but you ARE going to do it. :grouphug:

Write down all your questions and get on the phone tomorrow - not many people around at the moment, but hopefully there will be an end of the weekend rush and someone will be able to help you with you question.

    Wot a life,

Dont know if this means anything but i think you are doing a great job trying to sort everything out. Trouble is if you are like me it always takes so long to get stuff from others. Hang on in there and keep doing a bit at a time and i bet it just all suddenly falls into place. Plus you always have people like us on here to have chat with or if you need it a shoulder to cry on.

If your on Income support you qualify for full HB, if not your means tested, I know this because I lost my IS when missus claimed Incapacity benefit, talk about give with one hand and take with the other, were actually slightly worst off.

Its means tested so its a matter of applying and seeing what they say.

But if you can get even 1p of Income support take it cos IS gets you all your free prescriptions ect.

Hi WAL sorry your having such a bad time. You do need to talk to shelter if you feel you have no choice but to look elsewhere, but please be careful what you do. The council will look at 'was it reasonable to occupy the property' and this will be investigated.

On the benefits side I need to know ages and sex of children, how many hrs worked, your age and your family gross income from April 07 to April 08.
