Halifax figures Thursday - Chief Economist or Spin Merchant?

Why do you feel that releasing a set of figures tomorrow rather than last week will cause them to have a greater impact on the MPC's decisions? It seems very unlikely that their short term memories are so bad that they can't remember to look as some data released last week rather than this.
Because it's all about 'spin' to the public (who do have short term memories).
The figures will be out tomorrow and the story will go something like : -
House prices are down again this month by 1% (or whatever) BUT it's ok because the BoE can save the world by reducing interest rates this afternoon.
I saw a really interesting clip on you tube were Paul Van Eeden explained how the Fed reducing the interest rates in America were to blame for the vast majority of the rise in oil http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iwAHnpIR8is0 -
Only fools would swap oil in the ground for a paper currency, after the USA had just organised the biggest default in history on their bank balances.
(Hell must be realising just how much it costs to go to Klosters next winter after the currency devaluations).

Only???? We just put an offer on the house - the vendor will not accept it with the prices rising so fast!!!!
Oh well, the vendor declined our offer and decided to go with the lower first offer. We have no chain and big deposit in the bank. Is the vendor trying to send a message that prices are falling?
EA later said that our offer was substantially higher
The vendor is down under (AU), so probably they think differently :beer:Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -
Newsflash, Halifax figures out latter to day, if not it will be canceled to tomorrow. When tomorrow comes the figures will be out the next day.
I am expecting one hell of a seasonal adjustment if the figures come out. What are they hiding?
I guessed high for Nationwide...and was wrong (at -2.5) so I'm going to guess a tiny drop for halifax, lol. I reckon they are leaving us to panic so when its only a small drop based on few sales they can say the whole credit crunch is a storm in a teacup

So when are these figures out?
According to Forex Factory they are out tomorrow. However they have been saying they would be out everyday since last Thursday. I wouldn't hold my breath but the rumour is that they are 4% down last month. We will just have to wait and see.

Think they're waiting for the sale to complete before they post the change.0
