Maybe Halifax just don't want to add to the panic of a slow down of the economy on a day when the R word is being used and housebuilders are sheding more and more jobs.

Or there simple haven't been enough house sales to take any figures from

A mathematician, an accountant and an economist apply for the same job.

The interviewer calls in the mathematician and asks "What do two plus two equal?"

The mathematician replies "Four."

The interviewer asks "Four, exactly?"

The mathematician looks at the interviewer incredulously and says "Yes, four, exactly."

Then the interviewer calls in the accountant and asks the same question "What do two plus two equal?"

The accountant says "am I reporting to the board, to the bank or the Revenue? It would vary between £8 and a loss of £4."

Then the interviewer calls in the economist and poses the same question "What do two plus two equal?"

The economist gets up, locks the door, closes the shade, sits down next to the interviewer and answers "What would you like it to equal?"
There is a pleasure in the pathless woods, There is a rapture on the lonely shore, There is society, where none intrudes, By the deep sea, and music in its roar: I love not man the less, but Nature more...

An economist, a physicist and a chemist get shipwrecked and are starving. They are about to draw lots to see which gets eaten first when a pallet of tinned food washes up on the beach.

The physicist takes measurements to see where the weak points of the cans are to smash them open with no luck.

The chemist tries to produce a chemical to destroy the seal on the cans, but again no joy.

Then the economist steps up. "We need a working theory to get the cans open. Now let's assume we have a tin opener....."

Halifax figures now delayed AGAIN. Tentative for Wednesday, which just happens to be the day before the MPC rate setting decision.
