If you take a look in the Pets section of the MEGA Index sticky at the top of the board there's a post or two that should help you out - even though it's about cats.

Then too, in the Cleaning section there are some posts about potty training accidents on carpets that should also help.

    :)

  • I enjoyed reading this thread - now a question...

How can I remove those grease spots that accumulate on the tiles behind my hob. !I'm guilty of not cleaning the tiles every time I cook and so end up having to use brillo pads to scrub them off. !Will vinegar dissolve them? !

    Any tips gratefully received.

UPDATE!! Have just tried bicarbonate of soda and it worked brilliantly.....! :)

OK Reviving an old post here but does anyone know how to use Bicarbonate Of Soda on greasy tiles ? Do you just make a paste of it with water ? or lemon juice ? and in what quantity ?
I am trying to get rid of the stickiness on the tiles behind the cooker.

    Thanks

Yep. Make a paste using lemon juice and or vinegar. You don't need a lot, normally, so start with a tablespoon of bicarb, add a few drops one at a time until you get a nice paste, and see how far it goes.

I cleaned the outside of my windows and patio doors today with a white vinegar/water solution. They came up brilliantly.

The frames are pvc and had never been cleaned since we bought the house, but they have been returned to brilliant white.

I can't recommend vinegar as a cleaner enough!

    Hi
I have spent an absolute fortune on specialised products to try clean my pvc doors, what mix do i need for the vinegar and water, i can't beleive something so simple would work when the pricey cleaners fail?

    It's good stuff :)

In another thread some professionals said that window fitters use cif to clean UPVC.

I want to put white vinegar in a spray bottle for general purpose cleaning such as shower doors etc - should this be neat of diluted please? If diluted, how diluted?

    Thank you

The usual thing is about twenty to one.

I normally use a couple of tablespoons per spray bottle, sometimes add some lemon juice, also perhaps an essential oil.

You only need neat vinegar for solid limescale build up.

:hello: I regularly make up a spray bottle for my bathroom

... the ratio is half and half. (Bath, basin, tiles, mirrors and windows)

  • When I had my washing machine serviced early last year, the chap came up with a great tip! He said you should never follow the manufacturers instructions regarding the quantity of powder you put in the drawer; since then I've used about a quarter of the recommended amount and the washing is just as clean! I buy powder in big buckets from a cash & carry type place - or rather I did - I haven't bought any since about August!!!
I'm now going to try vinegar for softener - bit worried we might all end up smelling like chips, LOL! :T
