I have gone back to special dishwater stuff - but - I use store's own dishwasher powder and use a lot less than I used to - I use white vinegar instead of rinse aid.
My daughters thought I was losing my marbles when they saw me put vinegar in dishwasher!

I got this idea from another thread - have you tried using dishcloths for cleaning?
The old fashioned kind - they really get into spaces and rub clean - and they can be washed and reused.
I was really sceptical about this but tried it and they are great."This site is addictive!"

I'd just like to say what a plonker i've been..... yesterday for the first time I used vinegar instead of fabric conditioner....... on hanging out the washing there was a distinct smell of the chippy  didn't realise i was supposed to use the WHITE vinegar :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Glad to say that now I know I will be investing in the appropriate vinegar for my cleaning!!!!! :j :j :j"You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view...

JULIE, The smell usually goes away when the washing is dry. I have used ordinary vinegar for dark coloured washing and its been OK.0

If you don't like it try adding a few drops of essential oils. I use tea tree because hubby says lavender smells of old ladies!! (I like it) but you could use anything. When life hands you a lemon, make sure you ask for tequilla and salt

Is 5 litres of vinegar for £1.20 a good price? I found some in my local greengrocers, with all the pickling vinegars.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0
