I used white vinegar for the 1st time at the weekend as a fabric softener. I washed my bedding and towels because if it wasn't much good it wouldn't matter but this morning when I came to put them away, I found that they smelt really fresh. The sheets, pyjamas and tea towels were lovely and soft but bathroom towels were a bit stiff. Why is this? Should I use a bit more vinegar next time?0

can anyone come up with ideas to remove odours from the washing machine. I often get a musty smell from it ( like old water etc). This thread is fantastic, and will be out later to find white vinegar!0

Where's everyone gone?? To busy cleaning I bet
My darling son has written in blue biro on our fabic sofa....any ideas on how I can get this out?? I've got white vinegar at the ready (I'm out of bicarb though!)
I've also got a copy of a book I'd thoroughly recommend for cleaning without chemicals - Clean House Clean Planet by Karen Logan. It's a US based book, so once you've got over the fact she uses $price comparrisons on everything it's a great thing to use :cool:0 -
I use milk to get biro off fabric. Just blot or soak the fabric in milk, give it a rub and it will disappear.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

While on the subject of cleaning carpets ... mine badly need doing (cream carpet in living room ... not my choice as I'm renting, but after 3 years of use it's showing a few grubby marks now) and I was thinking of hiring a Rug Doctor here so i wondered about using vinegar in it and how would I go about it ... do I shampoo first then go over it again with a vinegar solution, or just use vinegar? Would the rental company insist that I buy their cleaning products to use in it?"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

:-/ :-/ :-/
I just shook the flask with my hand over it having put a couple of denture tablets in it and I nearly took off! I always make sure that the top of the flask is no where in site - just in case0 -
Just used white vinegar and newspaper on my windows and mirrors - and it was brill!! Far better than anything I have ever used before - no streaks and smears. Just mixed it with same quantity of water and used a water spray to apply to the windows.
The vinegar smell disappeared after an hour or so - house did smell like a chippy for a while though. But the results were worth it.
