Just wanted to let you know that I've bought about 4 pairs of glasses from goggles4u now and have been pleased with them all. WHy so many? because they're so cheap and yes one pair broke last month but I did drop my iron on them and they were rimless (now bridgeless too!) but at £17.99 inc discount I could afford new ones. I've got reactalite, sunglasses and yes, my lovely rimless frames. My father has also bought 2 pairs of variofocals (one was reactalite as well) from them which he is very pleased with.

Is it just me or have these now gone up to almost £30 a pair? Seems like a huge price hike, especially since their frames are the same as before.

I guess it is worth adding the current Asda deal since it is good for those that need the higher index lenses with are included.

Had a look at the frame selection in Watford yesterday and fairly good with a few rimless titaniums that will be very light.

I have used optical4less and goggles4u but their prices are a bit higher now with the exchange rate(was 2-1) , so for the extra few quid I can get 2 pairs from Asda in 1.67rx.

I just ordered a pair from Asda in Watford.

I have a very high prescription (-13.75) and was delighted to find out that the ultra thin glass lenses (1.9 index, for those in the know) were at no extra cost.

My frames were about £44, and I had an NHS voucher which gives me a discount of about £14 because of my high prescription, so the total cost of the glasses were £30.

For comparison, I was quoted £264 for the same index lenses, without frames, by Vision Express.

For anyone who needs thin lenses, this deal is incredible.

Hi, can anyone tell me how important it is to get the correct axis? I can't see properly out of my newish glasses and when comparing new prescription to past ones I can see that there is a huge difference on the axis measurement.

    Thanks
  • Thought I'd do a search on here for glasses as it is National Eye Week and found this massive thread! There are a few tips on this charity's website for cutting the cost of glasses, contact lenses and eye tests (such as getting your employer to pay for your test if you use a VDU). I know this probably doesn't 100% fit the brief, but thought it might be useful anyway :)

Their is a 'sale' on goggles4u ending today - coupon code is SALE (~30% off)

However their prices have gone up - someone mentioned the exchange rate change above - but also it seemed to me that the frames were the same/similar prices but the lenses were priced higher

which factors you all concern the fist when buying eyewear online?
price, style, handcraft, or the reputation of the site? help me out to decide since i really want to buy cheap eyeglasses online
  • First time poster,so be gentle!

I usually buy from optical4less.com and have had great service and good quality items. The styles are no worse than high street standard stuff. Price is good and I feel the lenes are somewhat better (varifocal & single vision). Supply takes a few weeks but normally this is no big deal.
However, this Christmas I smashed my usual glasses and needed some quick, I saw the exclusiveeyes advert ("3 days for simple lenses") on the web, and thought I'd give a UK provider a go. What a mistake!
Its been a farce dealing with them from day 1.
They dont send confirmation of order, they take days to reply to emails despite their promise to reply in 24 hours on their web page (no phone number I guess because they are probably actually working out of India) when they finally reply its basically a "dont worry your order is on the way" reply - I have lost count of the number of "We are currently making your order in the lab" emails!
When finally one pair finally arrived and they were simply tat!
The frame was VERY poor quality and the lenses were a mess. I sent yet another email and they asked me to return the glasses to their laboratories for inspection and they assured me they would return the order "rapidly", and thats the last I've heard from them!
The price was no better than Optical4less, the quality of service is absolutely appaling and the so far the specs have been rubbish. Four star supplier NOT!

I'm marking this one down to experience, I know I wont get my money back and what I will get, will be specs that are at best "spares", but I want to tell anyone who is looking for a supplier DONT USE THIS COMPANY!
There are great suppliers on the internet who give good service and supply good products at good prices - exclusiveeyes are simply not one of them.
