i too have had the recent misfortune to buy from glassescrafter.
very very poor. glasses arrived on time but there is a clear defect in the fitting of the left lens in that its slightly out of line, and hasn't been fitted properly.
asked for a refund - was originally fobbed off, then offered 20 quid to keep them (WHY?) and have only now received a refund after referring to google checekout and threatening to take the matter further still.
they even tried to get me to send the glasses to china, despite having an address in Oxford for UK returns.
very poor quality, very poor service, not a pleasant experience - AVOID0 -
Anyone know anything about the Glasses Shop.
http://www.glassesshop.com
Very snazzy looking specs at reasonable prices but no reviews anywhere.

Looked at the GlassesCrafter website and saw a nice pair of Silhoutte glasses that I liked. I then went to the Silhouette website but couldn't find these particular glasses. I emailed Silhouette to check if they were genuine. Here's their reply:
"This frame is not a genuine Silhouette frame. I would strongly suggest that you do not purchase this product as it will not be covered by any warranty offered by Silhouette.
Silhouette do not sell their product through websites, only through registered opticians.
We have 3 products similar to this model, Silhouette Enviso, Silhouette Edge and Silhouette Contrasti, all of which can be viewed on our website and registered stockists can also be found on the website using our retailer finder."

I have two pairs of designer rimless glasses (genuine - as confirmed by my friendly local optician and who couldn't even hope to compete with the prices!). I wasn't happy with the transitions lenses in one pair (my error) and returned them to Shanghai for replacement clear hi-index lenses (15 days getting there, completed the next day and returned 10 days later). Admittedly communication can be a struggle sometimes - I find it better to keep the language basic and (politely) direct. They tend to make use of 'set' replies for common queries that are sometimes not quite appropriate, but I always manage to get there in the end. Overall - they supply good quality glasses with the highest currently available high index lenses at a fraction of UK prices. But it requires a little patience and understanding.0 -

Just recieved my first pair of glasses from glassescrafter.com and Im really pleased with them! Great quality frames and lenses at only £40. The only downside was that they were wrapped in chinese newspaper! Luckily they were protected enough in the sturdy box they were in. Delivery only took 7 working days, there worth a try i think! :beer:Young moneysaver in the making

Just wanted to let you know that I've bought about 4 pairs of glasses from goggles4u now and have been pleased with them all. WHy so many? because they're so cheap and yes one pair broke last month but I did drop my iron on them and they were rimless (now bridgeless too!) but at £17.99 inc discount I could afford new ones. I've got reactalite, sunglasses and yes, my lovely rimless frames. My father has also bought 2 pairs of variofocals (one was reactalite as well) from them which he is very pleased with.History repeats itself
Has to.

A huge vote for ciliaryblue  Had some lenses redone in some frames.
I am currently ordering from the giarre.com website and it comes with free lenses. It asks what axis system - Tabo or International. Anyone know what system we use in the UK? One measures from one point, another from another.
Thanks in advance0 -
In case anyone searches this. the Uk use Tabo, Italy uses International0

Hi all,
Lensway.co.uk had a special offer a few weeks ago for free glasses, you had to pay for postage. I dubiously ordered from them as they went up to my prescription (-7.5) and paid £13.50.
Today, the most lovely glasses came in the post, with 2 cases, tool kit thingy and some vouchers for £10 off next order for me and friends/family!
Highly recommended, the frames are sturdy and strong and the lenses are really thin as well. I usually have to pay £70+ for the thinner lenses. I had a quote from tesco last week for over £135 for 2 pairs and i nearly cried so very very chuffed.
Try them!

I've just had a pair of frames reglazed by Ciliary Blue and I am delighted with them. I have a high prescription, being very short sighted with astigmatism. My prescription is not within their standard range of -8/+8, but I emailed an enquiry and a quick phone call resulted in a very swift offer for 1.67 Reactions lenses, with coatings, for £105. I had my new specs within the week, and they are perfect. :T
Having recently spent the best part of £1000 on two pairs of specs from D&A, which took a shocking 6 weeks to arrive, I am absolutely delighted to have found Ciliary Blue, whose service is faultless, and will certainly make many more purchases from them in the future.Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0
