do 1.9 for +$178 single vision on op of their regular prices.

I have had 3 regular pairs and very impressed by the quality, not as cheap as somewhere like www.goggles4u.com which I also use.

I always thought that they were the same company cos the websites are very similar.

I agree with SP1920 about glasses crafter. The first pair I ordered were out of stock and the second pair took a long time to come and a lot of emails. The reason is that they are manufactured and have the lenses fitted in China(not Hong Kong). But they were cheap!

As an update to my unfavourable comments about Glassescrafter, I just wanted to say how delighted I am with the glasses I have just received from Glasses Direct in Swindon. Quality frames, perfect prescription, quickly delivered.:T I highly recommend them.

I've started a rant in another thread about the price of specs as even these cheap ones dont go much above +/- 7.00

Those of us up in the +/- 9 to 10 range still cant get a cheap pair

    *grrrrrrrr*

I've just found out I can't get a voucher as I'm on JSA and not IS even though they pay the same amount!

I will presevere for Hi index 1.9 glass, -9.75 . If I find any under £200 I will post back

I was told that it is illegal for complex lenses to be sold via websites. Complex is defined by the NHS as "glasses with at least one lens which has a power in any one meridian of plus or minus 10 or more dioptres or is a prism-controlled bifocal lens;". In view of this, I wouldn't be shouting at the online sellers who don't provide for this prescription. Indeed - the ones who do should be reported!

So, -9.75 is getting there and could well be exceed -10 if you have a Cyl value. I'm quite a high prescription now but come in just under this threshold so I'm lucky, I guess.

    Hello,

Could you recommend a cheap online supplier of glasses that takes NHS vouchers, and where the price includes all the coatings (glare, scratch, UV - not sure if this last one is really needed tho), as I do not want to spend much more then the vouchers I have been given?

    Many thanks!!
  • I got this pair recently
Very nice graphic inside the arms

    Hi All

I have just recieved my glasses from glasses crafter "glassescrafter" and they are quite clearly poor quality counterfeit copies of Porsche Design glasses they were shipped from China and did not take too long but be aware that if you are buying designer brands from there, they will proably not be real and are poor quality.

Thanks to sp1920 - on your recommdenation I've just tried out Glasses Direct and see that they've got a virtual mirror bit of kit on there new website. I compared it with specsavers and there's is much easier to use and just more fun. I wasted an hour on there already this morning (boss didn't catch me) and will show the wife tonight as we both need specs.

I really have to sing the praises of Ciliaryblue. I did post my experience with them a week or so back. I received the prepaid box within 48 hours of ordering online. I posted off my well worn frame and terribly scratched lenses. Within two days the lenses were back, absolutely fantastic. I have no hesitation in buying frames off the web (delighted with designer ones bought from www.giarre.com, again excellent service and delivered to me by tracked courier from Italy) and will get the lenses fitted by Ciliaryblue at a fraction of the cost a local Optician will charge. :T

I totally agree about ciliaryblue - total turnaround in a week, excellent results, will deffo use them again.
