I have used https://www.spex4less.co.uk I have always just had normal lenses from them but they do offer a free tint which includes 100% uv protection.
Bought several pairs from them (as has my father) and they have been great for the money.0 -

:rotfl: Just want help all those people out there who are as blind as me !!
I was quoted well over £200 for a new pair of glasses with thin lenses in specsavers, so i decided to browse the net. After half an hour or so of searching i found https://www.spexmachine.com :T where i found frames similar to those in specsavers. I managed to buy a pair of Designer Gant glasses with thin lenses for just £95! they even sent me an email with a 10% discount of my next pair so i ordered myself a sunglasses pair for just £15 made to my prescription the tint on these was free! something that was an extra £12 for in specsavers! dont know if it will work but they sent me the code spex0506 for a 10% discount. Good luck with that PONGO0 -
I have bought three pairs of glasses from "glassesdirect" and have been very pleased with them all. The £15 range has now been considerably extended to include many which used to be £25. Their on-screen system for "trying the glasses on" takes a lot of the risk out of buying off the internet, and the current "simon" 10% discount code makes them even cheaper. I did have a problem with the plastic end caps on one pair after about six months but they were replaced free of charge. Excellent service.0

I'd like to add another recommendation for Spex4less.

The form I think you are talking about is a hc certificate and to warn you in advance its means tested and will really depend on your situation as to how much "help" you get back. Its something you can either apply for before you buy the specs, then ask in the opticians to tell you how much you get off, or claim a refund with the receipt from your purchase.
sorry to be the voice of doom but they rarely come back more than £25-£30 so you may save more on the net any way.
(You say you are not earning, can you not get automatic help??)
sorry to reply here havent a clue on how to pm :embarasse
