I've started wearing Poundland reading glasses too. They even look nice, I have a blue pair, a pink pair and a lilac pair!
I have some glasses from Dolland and Aitchison but I can't wear them for more then ten minutes as they make my eyes ache. The Poundland ones are wonderful!:smileyhea "here, hare, here" :smileyhea0 -
I used Budgetspex about 2 weeks ago and even though their website states to allow 28 days for delivery, I received my glasses yesterday. I saved approx £90.00 compared to the High Street (which I would've bought from at the time of my eye test had someone been with me to tell me if the frames suited me) - it was just lucky that Martin's weekly email came out a couple of days after my test with this thread highlighted. Thanks to Martin and all the others who posted on this (which helped me decide which to use)0

I used Select Specs (http://selectspecs.com) and ordered some £28.50 (+£1 postage) rim less glasses they had on special.
Glasses arrived very quickly (2 or 3 days), and were perfect apart from the length od the arms. I had forgotten to specify these, so they were a little long and the glasses would fall forwards down my nose.
So I asked someone at Select Specs via an excellent text-chat service on their website, and was told to send them back.
I sent them back, and 2 days letter my glasses were back and are completely perfect.
At £29.50, I am thinking or ordering another pair as a spare.0 -
Has anybody purchased glasses from www.perfectspecs.co.uk?
I ordered a trial frame from them last week but am still waiting for it to arrive. I live in Ireland so realise that it might take a while longer, but when I rang them to query the order today I was just told to use to order enquiry form on the website (which doesn't provide any feedback other than saying they will get back to me).
Should I be getting worried?0 -
Just bought these:
http://selectspecs.com/detailps.php?item=15.02
rimless, with bendy arms, UV, anti-reflective and scratch resistant coatings:
on special offer at £27.95
Arrived in a week and cant fault them! Brilliant! I can see again!
I previously used optical4less.com and also found these fantastic but needed an update after a new prescription. Was worried about import duties etc as opticals4less is based in Asia (Hong Kong?), none applied but does anyone know the actual charges on glasses if the parcel is intercepted are caught?0 -

There are a lot of posts made by people with a 1 or 2 post count...Spam maybe?
Selectspecs seem to have some decent prices...they are based in Kent as well. Anyone buy from them? Are they any good?
I see that they include thin lenses as standard....is this really the case? or is it just standard lenses but rebadged?0 -

Selectspecs quote a refractive index of 1.54 which IMHO is pretty similar to standard plastic lenses, though possibly falls in to the mid-index range, but not high index:
For techie stuff on lenses see the following:

Thanks mate
I was a lil cheeky today and went to some opticians to check out some glasses. The one I liked, a pair of Police ones, cost £300 from Vision Express(!).
The same model in Selectspecs cost £139 or if I go with the Super thin lense (refractive index = 1.60 = £19.95), I'm looking at £159! - My power is -4.00 btw
It seems a bit too good to be true - which is making me wary. Has anyone ordered a designer pair from here? Was it the real deal? Did it include the designer case for example?0 -
Who can be recommended for cheap perscription sunglasses? I looked at Select Specs but they don't do tints on their thinner lenses and I definitely need thin lenses0
