It may be worth sending an email to their CEO - Dermot Halpin and explaining it to him.
Sounds like a reasonable person however I haven't been too impressed with Autoquake and just like you I had read all these pages.
I was lucky enough to get my money back as the car I purchased had a turbo problem, so why wasn't this picked up under their infamous 141 point check!?
Its a good job I selected for the car to be delivered and the driver refused to bring it down as he felt there was something wrong with it.0 -
Thanks for the tip. Do you happen to have his email address? I feel your pain. My excitement took a punch in the schmoozer when I received the V5. This is of course 3 weeks after delivery.0

Just skipping through this thread, I cant believe people put £100 down to view a car! Or buy without even test driving! With the thousands and thousands of cars out there I just cant get my head round it.Went shoplifting at the Disneystore today.
Got a huge Buzz out of it.0 -
The £100 deposit there to attract the serious buyers only and you do get it back if you change your mind. This happened to me and I didnt have to chase them for it. Which I was suprised about.
When I reserved the car and paid 10% deposit for it to be reserved for 7 days they rang me on the 6th day warning me my time is nearly up and asked me to call them back to get my deposit refunded or arrange an appointment to pick the car up
Im happy with my car and Autoquake has resolved all the faults I raised with them. But they need to sort out that so called "141 point check"
However as I explained before that anyone buys from them needs to check the car afterwards and raise any issues with them.
People need to remember they are a no fills are car supermarket.0 -
I wish I had read all these posts about Autoquake earlier. I bought a car from them this month. I liked what I saw online and booked for viewing. Travelled all the way to Leeds from London with a return ticket in case I didnt like what I saw. I did eventually like the vehicle, had a test drive but I was rushed throughout the whole process as I was told I only had an hour to do everything. Now me being me, I looked at everything, headlights working, car electronics, the hybrid system (it was a lexus hybrid 400h), the horns, the engine bay etc etc. I asked to see the spare wheel and they declined as there were other appointments waiting. The sale guy said he was sorry but I will have to make a decision quickly as there are a lot of other appointments to tend to. I didnt appreciate this and I knew I would miss out something in the haste (which I did). I did like it made the decision to buy the car and was rushed off to the handover centre to finish all the paperwork. I was shown the paperwork, manuals, service history and the lot but the guy was already processing my reciept and putting my name in the V5. I didnt get a chance to flip through anything really. What I missed was that there were 3 previous owners on the car and their website clearly stated a single owner. I only found out after I recieved the V5 3 weeks later. You can imagine my dismay. How could they missed out such a blatant obvious and important detail? I spent months researching cars on autotrader, ebay and hundreds of other sites. Saved up money and made sure that all angles were covered. I took them on purely because of the claims on their website for complete transparency, business integrity and honesty. I easily had other options on the table for similar cars with better spec for cheaper, but I chose to go with them because i like the site, the amount of detail on the car and the pre-sale customer service.
Anyways, I immediately started calling thier after sales up, leaving messages that no one actually picks up, emailing them about this. They confused me for another customer a few times and finally got hold of my details. They wanted to see the scanned copy of the new V5 to see the number of owners. They accepted the mistake on their end after about 4 days of phone calls, emails, voicemails. This aggravated me very much because everything before the sale was smooth sailing. It was at the point of sale that everything began to turn sour. Anyways, they have offered to refund the admin fee of £99 as a goodwill gesture for thier error. This does not make me happy as I beleive that the car is worth £500-£600 less then what they advertised because of the number of owners. I have demanded that they compensate me with at least £500 for this error but they are refusing to do so. I have the option to return the car but I dont want to now as I have spent about £1500 on it already installing car audio, sat nav, new mats, new lights etc. I will never be able to get that money back if I returned the car.
Despite my numerous calls and emails, they are still adamant about only refunding the admin fee and that the price would not change even if they put the correct number of owners on it. I completely disagree with that and have threatened them about going to a county court to sort out the issue. They have still refused to refund anything over £99. I am now considering going to court to claim this money.
Is there anything else I can do to persuade them to play ball?
Sounds like you have a simular experience to me when you purchased the car. The buying stage was rushed but thats because I was getting anxious the local post office will going to close soon. As I needed the car to be taxed.
Im suprised they didnt let you look at the V5 doc before buying because I was able to look at it when I purchased my car. That was because I mentioned I did a hpi check and it came up with outstanding finance on it. He explained thats because it owned by a leasing company and the finance will be removed after I purchased. Plus I was able to get an letter confirming this as well.0 -
Bought a Honda Civic a couple of months ago from Autoquake. Higher spec and better price than we could find locally.
The car was advertised with rear parking sensors which when we looked at the pictures it didn't appear to have them. Got the car delivered and no parking sensors! It took one phone call and they agreed to give us some money back to get the sensors fitted. They gave us £280, it cost £110 to get some fitted.
Delivery of the car was a bit of a pain it took about a week longer than they said. I think they were probably waiting for a pick-up to be arranged in our area so they could do two in one.
Got the car checked over by our local garage and everything was fine.
An oil sensor failure light came on a few weeks ago. Cost £70 to get a software update to solve this known problem.
All in all we are happy with our purchase and experience with customer services. We would purchase from them again if the price was right.0 -
Just to let you know
I recently claimed for a faulty heated windscreen on autoquake extended warranty. Which is actually run by Car Care Plan.
The work to replace the windscreen was authourised a few weeks ago. At the time I had to get the windscreen specalist to speak to Car Care Plan to confirm its faulty. When they authourised it I agreed to pay for the windscreen to be replaced and the cost reburised by Car Care.
After sending the invoice (a photocopy) and a covering letter to Car Care. After two weeks I got a cheque in the post for the full amount.
I have to say there wasnt any hassles or attempts to back out to pay by Car Care. The only problem I found was finding a windscreen specalist willing to speak to them to confirm the original windscreen is faulty. Now I got a fully working heated windscreen.
So Yes I would recommened the extended warranty.0 -
I found this thread and most of the comments on it very useful for assessing whether to use autoquake. Thank you. Most likely will not be using them.
However, I have to point out that I am left with a lingering image of grown men and women walking around with big medallions inscribed with phrases such as "I am a 1000 + poster so I am potentially very important and my opinion matters more than others."
As they say if the cap fits.. those who this description fits should easily recognize themselves. It was extremely irritating when trying to find/ assess information on autoquake to have to continually wade through the drivel of self important, self anointed, posters who felt it more important to try and point out that other posters opinions were not as important as their own simply because of the number of times that individual had posted:rotfl::rotfl:
Still overall a great thread. Thank you.0 -

All comments are valid whether from newbies or medallions. Whether you like it or not, the number of posts is generally reflective of reputation. We've seen many hilarious threads on MSE where companies have conspired to use staff to post fake reviews.
Would you trust someone with loads of helpful posts or a 1 digit poster who has just joined? If you trust the latter then more fool you but that is your choice. I'd argue that sometimes the number of positive 1 digit posters can be reflective of how immoral a company can be.
There are many willy waving medallions that I would trust on the motoring forum for their technical knowledge and helpfulness and there are very few 1 digit posters who have been helpful or trustworthy. Like most things in life you get what you put in.The man without a signature.0
