AutoQuake 2nd hand car sale - any one brought from?

I bought a Ford S Max at Autoquake's Southall depot on 2nd Sept.
The car was described to me in an email by their customer services as having 8 months Ford warranty remaining. Great! At the depot, the salesman and his manager both confirmed to me that the 8 months warranty were in place.
Drove the car home - a friend said: it looks nice, but if it's over 60k miles there will be no warranty left.
I phoned Ford Customer Care. There is no warranty!
I phoned the Autoquake salesman - after 3 calls, he admitted that he had given a wrong description of the car 'by mistake.' Then he blocked my phone number so I couldn't call him.
Classy!
But I don't want to condemn Autoquake completely just yet. I've given them till 5pm on Monday 6th Sept to put a warranty on the car (which they're legally obliged to do, of course) or I will buy a warranty and invoice them.
Fortunately, I have a solicitor in the family, so taking a company to court is easy and free for me to do. But if you don't have a lawyer on hand, this would be a nightmare situation.
Anyway, I'll post an update next week letting this forum know what the outcome is.0 -
It seems as though the reviews and comments are getting progressively worse for this company.0

4 year old mondeo (£18k new) with 35k miles and FSH for £4.5k :T
Did my homework, spoke to servicing dealer, got it checked over at local garage within the 7 days cooling.
Said no to warranty/GAP insurance - no pressure
Saved £££
No frills location/set-up - who cares ?
Happy as a pig in !!!!!!0 -
A little update! I got my little Honda and it's a great car. I had it serviced on Monday (I was slightly concern about the tyres/but the mechanic did not say they had a problem), the only thing wrong with it are the front brake pads are 80% worn otherwise they advised me it was in really good condition. I have contacted customer service re brake pads.0

Hi
Purchased a car from Autoquake having read all of the above comments I was a tad wary of them. After speaking to them the 7 day warranty gave me reassurance so I decided to purchase the car.
I was expecting delivery on 20-09-10 however they have rang me up today to say they cant deliver it for today. They said it failed its pre delivery inspection. Does anyone know what this is?
They couldnt give me any more information.
Thanks0 -
I have owned 14 Saab cars in a row
I bought one on autoquake and it was to be delivered on monday having paid for it the previous thursday
Today is wednesday and I had to complain because the car had not been accepted by the delivery company after an appointment to deliver on monday
A mechanic was called out and I was fobbed off that something was being done
Today I pushed the issue because the money left my account on 15th September
Martin after asking for a manager subsequent to them hanging up informed me that the car would not start and I pointed out that this makes their 140 point inspection a bit ridiculous
What annoys me is that they did not put the car to a Saab garage; I contacted the main dealer in Leeds, to get the diagnostic on the car; I have my own former Saab mechanic in at home !
So a mechanic is working for a few days on a car while they have had my money for a week
The information the interface with the public has is not sufficient to gain factual information with this company and their cheap cars may be expensive in the long run if you get a patch job to get it delivered to your home bacause they are cutting overheads
I know my Saabs so AUTO .......QUAKE .....!0 -
Hi Mike
I am having exactly the same problem to you only difference being I purchased an Audi.
I rang them today and asked for an update and have made it clear if I don't have an update by Friday, I want a refund.
This is ridiculous I was sceptical about purchasing it in the first instance and this experience has verified it for me.
Does anyone know the email address for their CEO?
Thanks,0 -
i thought id add my experience of autoquake here.
i was in the market for a new car and searched all the usual avenues, ebay, pistonheads, autotrader, id decided i wanted a 3 series bmw diesel and spotted a 320d m sport on the autoquake site, i compared the price with similar age and mileage examples elsewhere on the net, and even private sales on ebay where more expensive. My confidence was boosted by their descriptions of cars on their site. i must say that some people just dont seem to understand that what they are doing is trying to rewrite how cars are sold, the £100 deposit is a gesture on the customers part that they are genuinely interested in the car ,and in return, autoquake take the car off sale until the customer has decided if they want to proceed with the sale, if they dont , the deposit is refunded.
I must add that I was in the motor trade for many years, both working for dealerships and for myself, ive bought many cars at auction, and within the trade, and I have to say that when i turned up at autoquake I was almost shocked by how they opperate, but, it works. I collected my car from the leeds depot, which is the old vickers defence factory where they used to make guns or tanks I think, you almost feel like you should be clocking on when you walk through the door. I was shown to a waiting room (this is a loose description, its a porta cabin), after about 15 minuites a guy took me to see the car, and then left me to it, the car was exactly as described on their site. We sorted the paper work and i drove off in my new car within 2 hours, 100 mile trip home and no issues what so ever. Im over the moon.
I dont think I could have bought the same car at auction for much less, and wouldnt have had the 7 day option of taking the car back.
The old saying "you can please some of the people some of the time but not all of the people all the time" springs to mind here. Where ever you buy a car, be it an auction, a car supermarket, a main dealer , a new car or a second hand car, some people will be unlucky and have a problem, buying a car has its risks and after my experience of buying from autoquake, i think some of the comments on this thread are unrealistic or written by people who have expected main dealer service at auction prices, it just isnt realistic.
I will defiantly recommend autoquake, and wouldn't hesitate to buy from them again.0 -
I just brought a car (Ford Fiesta) from Autoquake, collected it from Leeds from that fromer Vickers defense company. Before I purchased the car I paid a £100 deposit and went to view the car. The place is exactly what mikeouk described. Waited in the portacabin aka customer waiting area and got see to within 10 mins. The sales guy showed me the car and it was exactly what i described. They even let me give me a test drive in the car park. At the time I havent got the financing sorted out and told them. They told me I will be refunded my £100 back in a few days. I was doubtful I was get refunded but after a few days the refund appeared on my CC. Which I was impressed by I assumed I would need to chase them about it.
In the meantime I manged to sort out my financing of the car courtsey of Tesco bank but the car got reserved by someone elsebut within a day it was back on sale. I rang Autoquake up to get the car reserved and went again to visit the car. This time I paid my 10% desposit and arranged to pick the car up another day.
There was no pressure to take the warranty up or the GAP insurance. He just explained them to me and let me decide.
Today I picked the car up, my appointment was at 4pm. After arriving on time I was kept waiting for about 40 mins to be seen to. There was another customer there waiting to be seen. We were getting worried that we might not get everything done in time to get to the post office and get the cars taxed. Finally I got seen to and sorted out all the paperwork but it was kinda rushed (for the reasons earlier). They didnt give me my invoice and I dont have the radio code for the car which I will ring them tomorrow about. I had to ask remind him for the letter to say that they will pay off the outstanding finance on the car and the warranty details which werent filled in the booklet. (Both were eventually given to me)
The car is due for a service so I will sort one out for this week. I will report back if anything comes up
Overall a good experience with some teething problems (I was intially dubious) but I think some of the complaints are more customer service orientated. I would highly recommend paying the £100 deposit to view the car. I understand why they charge this to filter out the genuine customers and if you change your mind they do refund you. Even if you pay the 10% deposit to reserve the car for 7 days this is refundable as they rang me warning me my 7 days were nearly up and they would have to refund me.
Remember its a no fills online supermaket so I didnt expect any dealership treatment at all0
