i have recently bought a used car from autoquote (07 passat). first seen it advertised on ebay and reserved it with a £100 deposit. i could not get to the westbury depot where it was and the guy on the end of the phone said not worry there is a 7 day returns policy on all vehicles if you are not happy with them when purchased. i went ahead and purchased anyway and had it delivered (first time i have ever bought a car with no test drive). i started to panic a bit after thinking what have i done but when it arrived all was good and i am really pleased. probably the best car i have ever bought and the ebay description was spot on. the only problem i did have was when the car was delivered the mot certificate was not in the handover pack and to get the car taxed i had to get a duplicate mot which cost £10.0

I have dropped the car off at Autoquake's designated garage this morning to get the car looked at and hopefully fix the problems I noticed on the car (windscreen seal coming off, wheel balancing, wipers split, and o/s/f callipers bending), I believe these should have been covered under the '141 point check' they claim to carry out on the cars.
Like I said before do your own checks and raise any issues you have with them, it wastes a bit of time and money but it’s worth it if the issues you find with your car can be fixed by them. I hope this helps. I will update the forum once I hear from them later today.
Will I buy from them again? Yes indeed. In case anyone has a problem contact Pavinder Banggar <pavinder.banggar@autoquake.com>. By far the most helpful guy, hope he still works there. Take care all.0 -
Thought i give an update
I just had the car serviced (4 year or 50k) at a Ford Garage and it appears the break pads are worn out. The minimum thickness should 20mm its currenyl got 20.9mm.
It doesnt bode will as they claim they do a 141 point check. I have email Autoquake complaining about this within a few minutes I got a phone call back telling me to book the car into a Nationwide Garage. I will take the car to them on Monday.
I will provide an update on how it goes. Otherwise the car will be going back if this is not sorted out.0 -

I think everyone should take any "141 point checks" from any dealer with a huge pinch of salt. You should always assume that dealers are lying if they say they have a xxx point check because as we all know with all the complaints the xxx point check is bull. The man without a signature.0 -
As promised here my feedback from the issues I raised earlier. Took my car to the Nationwide Garage as requested by Autoquake. It appears the break discs were worn badly and needed changing. Autoquake just wanted the break discs replacing only but Nationwide insisted both the discs and pads need replaced. Eventually Nationwide got their way and everything is now sorted. I am very happy with the after sales service when I first raised this issue with Autoquake and the speed of service of getting this issue sorted.
I will be claiming on the extended warranty for the windscreen as some of the built in heating element are dud. I have called the warranty company and I am sorting that out separately.
My advice is to get the car checked out immediately after you purchase from and raise any issues with them that crop up. They are good that sorting out these issues quickly.
Yes I would still recommend them and I would buy from them again. But I would always get the car checked after purchase but thats the same for buying from any used car dealer. They need to sort out their quality control because I wouldnt take a 141 point check with a pinch of salt. Maybe get the rac or aa to do an vehicle inspection for them?0 -
Im looking at a car on autoquake at the moment and have read through a lot of the posts here. I am tempted to at least go and look at the car and get a test drive, and if Im happy with it then buy it. I would take it for an independent check to make sure there is nothing I missed.
So, who do people recommend for an independent check? AA?
Is the warranty offered a good deal? I would definitely take a warranty with a new car but are there better deals buying a warranty from somewhere else?0 -
Majority of complaints about this co are for worn brake pads!!.
if their people are reading these posts why don't they double check this as this will solve 80% complaints as their business model is typical Ryanair and that's the way to go!!!0 -

I just claimed on the extended warranty I purchased from Autoquake. I had to get the heated windscreen replaced because some of the heating elements were broke. The windscreen specalist spoke to the warranty company and got the work authourised. I have sent the invoice to them so I can be remebursed the cost. I will post back on how they deal with my claim.0 -
I wish I had read all these posts about Autoquake earlier. I bought a car from them this month. I liked what I saw online and booked for viewing. Travelled all the way to Leeds from London with a return ticket in case I didnt like what I saw. I did eventually like the vehicle, had a test drive but I was rushed throughout the whole process as I was told I only had an hour to do everything. Now me being me, I looked at everything, headlights working, car electronics, the hybrid system (it was a lexus hybrid 400h), the horns, the engine bay etc etc. I asked to see the spare wheel and they declined as there were other appointments waiting. The sale guy said he was sorry but I will have to make a decision quickly as there are a lot of other appointments to tend to. I didnt appreciate this and I knew I would miss out something in the haste (which I did). I did like it made the decision to buy the car and was rushed off to the handover centre to finish all the paperwork. I was shown the paperwork, manuals, service history and the lot but the guy was already processing my reciept and putting my name in the V5. I didnt get a chance to flip through anything really. What I missed was that there were 3 previous owners on the car and their website clearly stated a single owner. I only found out after I recieved the V5 3 weeks later. You can imagine my dismay. How could they missed out such a blatant obvious and important detail? I spent months researching cars on autotrader, ebay and hundreds of other sites. Saved up money and made sure that all angles were covered. I took them on purely because of the claims on their website for complete transparency, business integrity and honesty. I easily had other options on the table for similar cars with better spec for cheaper, but I chose to go with them because i like the site, the amount of detail on the car and the pre-sale customer service.
Anyways, I immediately started calling thier after sales up, leaving messages that no one actually picks up, emailing them about this. They confused me for another customer a few times and finally got hold of my details. They wanted to see the scanned copy of the new V5 to see the number of owners. They accepted the mistake on their end after about 4 days of phone calls, emails, voicemails. This aggravated me very much because everything before the sale was smooth sailing. It was at the point of sale that everything began to turn sour. Anyways, they have offered to refund the admin fee of £99 as a goodwill gesture for thier error. This does not make me happy as I beleive that the car is worth £500-£600 less then what they advertised because of the number of owners. I have demanded that they compensate me with at least £500 for this error but they are refusing to do so. I have the option to return the car but I dont want to now as I have spent about £1500 on it already installing car audio, sat nav, new mats, new lights etc. I will never be able to get that money back if I returned the car.
Despite my numerous calls and emails, they are still adamant about only refunding the admin fee and that the price would not change even if they put the correct number of owners on it. I completely disagree with that and have threatened them about going to a county court to sort out the issue. They have still refused to refund anything over £99. I am now considering going to court to claim this money.
Is there anything else I can do to persuade them to play ball?0 -

If you'd googled Autoquake this thread has been appearing on the first page for months. It's currently the fourth result......................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)
